Newcastle disease (ND) adalah penyakit yang disebabkan oleh virus Avian paramyxovirus dari keluarga Paramyxoviridae. Newcastle disease merupakan penyakit menular yang melibatkan saluran respirasi berbagai lesi pada ayam. Penularan penyakit dapat secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui berbagai kasus lesi secara histopatologis pada organ ayam terinfeksi virus Newcastle disease yang ditemui pada saat di lapangan. Penyusunan Tugas Akhir ini berdasarkan tiga sampel histopatologis yang salah satunya positif Newcastle disease di Balai Besar Veteriner Wates, Yogyakarta pada tahun 2018. Hasil pengamatan Newcastle disease secara histopatologis menunjukkan adanya nekrosis ensepalitis pada otak.

Newcastle disease is a disease caused by an Avian paramyxovirus from the family Paramyxoviridae. It is a highly contagious disease that involves the respiratory tract in various species of poultry, especially chickens. It is highly virulent that the infection of such disease can be spread by directly contracted to the host or undirectly. The aims understand the various cases lesions in histopathologic orgam chickens in infected virus Newcastle disease found at the time in the field. The preparation of their final task is based on three of histopathologic one of which positive Newcastle disease at Balai Besar Veteriner Wates, Yogyakarta in 2018. Observation histopatologis indicated Newcastle disease in necrosis ensepalitis in the brain.
