DOMINASI ELITE DAN RESISTENSI KELAS BAWAH DALAM NOVEL READY PLAYER ONE KARYA ERNEST CLINE

Skripsi ini menganalisis Ready Player One (2011), novel fiksi sains popular karya Ernest Cline. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari tentang bagaimana perusahaan masif bernama IOI (Innovative Online Industries) menjalankan dominasinya terhadap orang-orang. Selain itu, skripsi ini juga menganalisis bagaimana orang-orang melawan dominasi perusahaan. Skripsi ini menggunakan teori Marx karena skripsi ini mempelajari tentang kelas, perjuangan dan konflik kelas, dominasi, dan resistansi. Elemen-elemen dari teori terebut diidentifikasi dan dianalisis untuk mencapai tujuan. Hasil dari analisis menunjukkan bahwa konflik adalah penyebab dari adanya pengelompokan kelas. Dalam Ready Player One, kelas kapitalis bertujuan untuk memperluas dominasi dengan cara memenangkan perburuan easter egg sementara kelas proletar mencegah hal tersebut. Telah disimpulkan bahwa perjuangan dan konflik kelas dapat menyatukan para proletar untuk bekerja bersama melawan dominasi kapitalis.

This undergraduate thesis analyzes Ernest Cline's Ready Player One (2011), a popular science fiction novel. The objective of this research is to study how a massive company called IOI (Innovative Online Industries) runs its domination against people. Furthermore, this paper also analyzes how people resist the company's domination. This undergraduate thesis uses Marxist Theory since the thesis study about class, class conflict and struggle, domination, and resistance. The elements of the theory are identified in the novel and therefore analyzed to reach the objectives. The result of the analysis shows that conflict is the reason for class grouping. In Ready Player One, the capitalist wants to expand its domination by winning the easter egg hunt while the proletariat resists it. It is concluded that class struggle and conflicts bring the proletariat to work together to resist the capitalists' domination.
