Homesickness in the Character of Harry Potter As Seen in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban Novel

This research attempts to disclose the effect of homesickness on a character as well as the result of said effect. Homesickness as a mental illness is prevalent in people; therefore, the investigation used Harry Potter as its subject. The research of homesickness used a theory that derives from loss. It is in the researcher best interest to show the harshness of being homesick in a society that you have little to no control of and in situations where you have little to no choice on how to proceed. By the same effect, the researcher would want to highlight the need of attachments in a social sense for individuals that are suffering from homesickness, because it is one of the definite cure for a serious and dangerous mental illness. It can affect anyone regardless of age, living conditions, and state of mind. For posterity, regarding further study of homesickness, the researcher would prefer if more researchers use homesickness as a possibly option for a character study.

Penelitian ini berupaya untuk memperlihatkan efek dari kerinduan akan rumah (homesickness) beserta akibat dari efek penyakit mental tersebut sebagai acuan dalam studi karakter. Harry Potter digunakan sebagai alat untuk menampilkan sebab-akibat dalam penyakit mental homesickness dengan menggunakan teori yang mengacu pada kehilangan (loss). Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan niat baik peneliti untuk mengemukakan keburukan yang terjadi akan individu yang mengalami kerinduan akan rumah (homesickness). Bersamaan dengan niat tersebut, peneliti juga ingin mengedepankan adanya upaya untuk mengedepankan ketergantungan sebagai upaya sosial karena ketergantungan adalah obat yang konkrit untuk penyakit mental yang sangat berbahaya bagi individu-individu tanpa memandang umur, gaya hidup, atau mental individu tersebut. Untuk kedepannya, peneliti menginginkan lebih banyak penelitian tentang homesickness sebagai opsi yang memungkinkan untuk studi karakter
