Pengaruh Jambe (Areca catechu) terhadap Jumlah Telur Cacing Ascaris Selama Pengobatan 5 Hari pada Ayam Petelur Strain Hisex di Peternakan Ayam Randu

Salah satu penyakit yang sering menyerang ayam petelur yaitu cacingan. Ascariasis adalah penyakit cacing yang menyerang usus unggas dan disebabkan oleh Ascaridia galli. Biji jambe diduga mampu mengobati penyakit cacingan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jambe dan terhadap jumlah egg per gram (epg) tinja pada ascariasis ayam petelur untuk mengetahui efektifitas anthelmintik. Materi yang digunakan adalah 10 ayam petelur, berumur kurang lebih 2 bulan. Sebelum dilakukan pengobatan, ayam dipisahkan pada kandang besi individu. Kemudian dihitung EPG (Egg per gram) awal. Pada penelitian ini digunakan pakan ayam bentuk pelet BR Japfa yang telah dicampur ekstrak jambe selama 5 hari. Dilakukan perhitungan EPG pada hari ke 5. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian jambe campur pakan selama 5 hari mempunyai pengaruh efektif terhadap jumlah egg per gram (epg) tinja. Jambe mempunyai kandungan senyawa arekolina yang berfungsi sebagai anthelmintik.

One of the disease that often attacks layer chicken is worm. Ascariasis is a disease where Ascaridia galli attacks the poultry's intestine. Pinang palm seeds are suspected to be able to treat ascariasis. This research was conducted to determine the effect of pinang palm and the number of eggs per gram (epg) on the feces od ascariasis layer chicken to determine the anthelmintic effectiveness. The material used in this research were 10 layer chicken, aged approximately 2 months. Before the treatment, the chicken were separated into the individual iron cages. The initial EPG (Egg per gram) on the chicken's feces were calculated. The chicken were fed with BR Japfa pellets that have been mixed with pinang palm seeds extract within 5 days treatment. Then, EPG on the chicken feces were calculated again on the 5th day. From this research, it was showed that the mixing of pinang palm seed extract on the chicken feed for 5 days gave a effectively on the number of eggs per gram (epg). Pinang palm seed contains arekolina compounds that function as anthelmintic.
