PENGARUH BODY CONDITION SCORE TERHADAP PENAMPILAN REPRODUKSI POST PARTUM INDUK KAMBING PERANAKAN ETTAWA DI KELOMPOK PETERNAK, GIRIKERTO, TURI, KABUPATEN SLEMAN

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh body condition score terhadap penampilan reproduksi post partum induk kambing PE di kelompok peternak Girikerto, Turi, kabupaten Sleman. Penelitian menggunakan 10 ekor kambing dan digunakan pada hari ke-10 setelah beranak dan dibedakan menjadi dua kelompok yaitu kelompok I dengan BCS 1,00 sampai 2,00 dan kelompok II BCS >2,00 sampai 3,00. Penentuan BCS dilakukan dengan meraba bagian tulang belakang kambing tepatnya pada bagian spinous process, vertebral angle dan longissimus. Pengamatan terhadap post partum estrus setelah melahirkan, dilakukan dilakukan dengan mengamati tanda-tanda birahi, metode vaginal smear/preparat apusan untuk mengetahui histologi epitel vaginanya, mengukur temperatur vagina dan mengukur pH lendir vagina menggunakan kertas lakmus. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Independent Sample T-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanda-tanda birahi menunjukkan perubahan warna vagina menjadi merah, bengkak, hangat dan berlendir. Temperatur dan pH vagina saat estrus tidak menunjukkan perbedaan nyata pada kelompok I (38,43±0,38°C; 7,80±0,76)dan kelompok II (38,49±0,34°C; 8,00±0,61). Lama post partum estrus tidak berbeda nyata antara kelompok I dan kelompok II (55,20±32,79 hari vs 51,00±15,52 hari). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah induk kambing Peranakan Ettawa yang memiliki BCS 1,00-2,00 dan BCS >2,00-3,00 mengalami periode siklus estrus yang tidak berbeda nyata. Tanda-tanda birahi visual yang paling lengkap adalah pada kelompok II (BCS >2,00-3,00). (Kata kunci: BCS, Kambing PE, Post partum estrus)

The study was conducted to examine the effect of body condition score (BCS) on reproductive post partum reproduction of Ettawa crossed breed does in Girikerto, Turi, Sleman. The study used 10 Ettawah crossed bred goat 10 days post partum The Does were divided into two groups: group I was BCS 1,00 to 2,00 and group II was BCS >2,00 to 3,00. Body Condition Score was based on the degree of roundness of the ends of the bones, the amount of tissue between the bones and the fullness of the eye muscle. The observation were carried out to detect estrous post partum. The determination of the estrous cycle was done by vaginal smear, measurement of vaginal temperature in the morning, and measuring the pH of vaginal mucus. The data were analyzed by Independent Sample T-Test. The result showed that estrous were indicated by the change colour of vaginal becomes red, puffy, warm and the vaginal excreted mucus. Temperature and pH vagina when the estrus did not significant different between group I (38,43±0,38°C; 7,80±0,76) and group II (38,49±0,34°C; 8,00±0,61). The period of estrous cycle of post partum was not significantly different group I was 55,20±32,79 days and group II was 51,00±15,52 days. Finally, Ettawa crossed breed does with BCS 1,00-2,00 and BCS >2,00-3,00 did not significant different on their estrous cycle. The most appeared estrous indicated was Group II.
