Metode iterasi variasional digunakan untuk menyelesaikan masalah persamaan diferensial baik linear maupun nonlinear. Dengan metode ini, masalah akan didekati dengan sebuah nilai awal. Langkah pertama dalam menggunakan metode ini adalah dengan membentuk koreksi fungsional yang melibatkan pengali Lagrange. Pengali Lagrange ini dapat diidentifikasi secara optimal dengan menggunakan teori variasional. Selanjutnya, dapat diperoleh rumus iterasi untuk mendapatkan nilai pendekatan dari masalah persamaan diferensial tersebut. Selanjutnya, pada skripsi ini akan dibahas salah satu aplikasi metode iterasi variasional pada Persamaan Korteweg-de Vries (KdV).

Variational iteration methods is used to solve the problem of differential equations both linear and nonlinear. With this method, the problem will be approached with an initial value. The first step in using this method is to form a functional correction involving the Lagrange multiplier. This Lagrange multiplier can be identified optimally using variational theory. Furthermore, an iterative formula can be obtained to get an approach from the problem of the differential equation. In this paper, we will discuss one application of the variational iteration method in the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation.
