Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kerapatan pohon dan lapisan tajuk terhadap kecepatan fotosintesis tanaman jati kelas umur I pada musim kemarau dan musim hujan. Penelitian dilakukan di hutan tanaman jati di RPH Pakel, BKPH Regaloh, KPH Pati, Jawa Tengah, dengan jalan membuat 3 Petak Ukur pada tegakan berdasarkan distribusi diameter, dengan masing-masing 3 buah pohon sampel. Hasil pengamatan yang dilakukan pada dua musim yaitu musim kemarau dan musim hujan, menunjukkan bahwa kecepatan fotosintesis pada musim kemarau lebih besar daripada pengukuran pada musim hujan. Kerapatan pohon dan Lapisan Tajuk memiliki korelasi yang positif terhadap peningkatan kecepatan fotosintesis. Dan, pengamatan lapangan menunjukkan hubungan yang nyata antara kecepatan fotosintesis dan produktivitas suatu tumbuhan.

The objective of this research was to observe the effects of trees density and canopy layer on the rate of photosynthesis of teak (age 9 th), both in dry and rainy season. Research was conducted at teak forest plantation in RPH Pakel, BKPH Regaloh, KPH Pati, Central Java, by making 3 plots in stands based on distribution of diameter with 3 trees for each sample. Result showed that rate of photosynthesis in dry season was greater than in rainy season. Density of trees and canopy layer had a positive correlation against increase of the rate of photosynthesis. Furthermore, field research showed that the relation between rate of photosynthesis and productivity of plants was significant.
