PERSEPSI ETNIS TIONGHOA TERHADAP ISTILAH 'CINA' DAN 'TIONGHOA' DI YOGYAKARTA

Tugas Akhir yang berjudul ''Persepsi Etnis Tionghoa Terhadap Istilah 'Cina' dan 'Tionghoa' di Yogyakarta'', bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi etnis Tionghoa terhadap istilah 'Cina' dan ''Tionghoa'', perbedaan persepsi diantara etnis Tionghoa, dan ada atau tidaknya pengurangan konotasi negatif terhadap istilah 'Cina'. Kedua istilah ini, 'Cina' dan 'Tionghoa' terkadang menjadi perdebatan dikalangan masyarakat umum, untuk itu penulis tertarik melakukan penelitian pendapat dari etnis Tionghoa sendiri. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, kuesioner dan studi pustaka. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah 100 responden etnis Tionghoa yang ada di Yogyakarta, yang diteliti dalam penelitian yaitu: tanggapan etnis Tionghoa terhadap istilah 'Cina' dan 'Tionghoa', perbedaan persepsi antara etnis Tionghoa, berkurangnya konotasi negatif terhadap istilah 'Cina'. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh hasil tanggapan yang positif dari etnis Tionghoa terhadap kedua istilah 'Cina' dan 'Tionghoa'. Perbedaan persepsi diantara etnis Tionghoa terdapat dari segi umur. Didapatkan hasil adanya pengurangan konotasi negatif terhadap istilah 'Cina'.

The final assignment entitled ''Ethnic Chinese Perception Towards 'China' and 'Chinese' term in Yogyakarta'', aims to collect the perception of ethnic Chinese towards 'China' and 'Chinese' terms, the different perception betwen ethnic Chinese, and there any decreases negative connotation of 'China' term. This two terms 'China' and 'Chinese', sometimes the reason debated in public. Based on this case, this research will discuss perception in ethnic Chinese. This researc will use methods, observation, interview, quetioner, and literature study. The subjects of this research are 100 ethnic Chinese in Yogyakarta, and the variables in this research are: ethnic Chinese responses towards 'China' and 'Chinese' term, the different perception in ethnic Chinese, there any decreases negative connotation toward 'China' term. Based on the result of this research is found positive responses in two terms 'China' dan 'Chinese'. Found any different perceptionin ethnic Chinese based on year of birth. It also found decreases negative conncotation of 'China' term.
