INDUSTRY 4.0: IMPACT ON LABOUR AND PRODUCTIVITY

Industry 4.0 adalah salah satu dari beberapa istilah yang muncul dalam pesatnya perubahan zaman, tidak hanya dalam proses industri, tetapi juga pada kehidupan ekonomi, masyarakat dan individu. Tujuan pertama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis dampak Industri 4.0 pada dua variabel yaitu tenaga kerja dan produktivitas. Tujuan kedua dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan dan menilai model pasar tenaga kerja Indonesia untuk mengevaluasi konsekuensi Industri 4.0 pada dinamika pasar negara. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa Industri 4.0 tidak serta-merta menghancurkan pekerjaan, tetapi juga berpotensi menciptakan lapangan kerja. Industri 4.0 akan meningkatkan tingkat produktivitas di seluruh dunia, tetapi hanya jika biaya, kelayakan teknis, dinamika pasar, dan budaya memungkinkan. Terakhir, Indonesia belum sepenuhnya siap untuk menyambut Industri 4.0, terutama karena kurangnya kompetensi dan infrastruktur yang belum memadai.

Industry 4.0 is one of the several names that has been given to the tremendous change, not only in the industrial processes, but also on the economy, society and individual lives. The first objective of this research is to analyse the impact of Industry 4.0 on two variables that are labour and productivity. The second objective of this research is to develop and assessment model for the Indonesian labour market in order to evaluate the consequences of Industry 4.0 on the market dynamics of the country. The results show that Industry 4.0 will not necessarily destroy jobs, it has also the potential to create jobs. Industry 4.0 will increase productivity rates around the world, but only if costs, technical feasibility, market dynamics and culture allow it. Last, Indonesia is not fully ready to welcome Industry 4.0, mainly because of the lack of competences and the poor infrastructure.
