Transmigrasi dan Pekabaran Kristen Advent di Lampung 1924-1990an

Selama ini kajian mengenai kolonisasi dan transmigrasi di Indonesia kerap diidentikkan dengan persoalan demografi, ekonomi, pertanian, dsb. Padahal selain hal-hal tersebut, program transmigrasi membawa kemungkinan baru yaitu penyebaran agama, dalam hal ini Kristen. Tumbuhnya berbagai gereja serta beralihnya keyakinan para kolonis dan transmigran beriringan dengan pelaksanaan program yang semakin masif dilaksanakan oleh pemerintah, baik sejak masa kolonial hingga jauh sesudah Indonesia merdeka. Salah satu gereja yang diuntungkan oleh pemindahan ratusan ribu penduduk Jawa ke Lampung tersebut adalah Gereja Advent. Penelitian ini menguraikan kaitan antara transmigrasi dengan perkembangan Gereja Advent di Lampung sejak 1924 hingga 1990an. Setelah menentukan tema, penelitian dilanjutkan dengan mencari sumber primer dan sekunder sebagai bahan untuk membuat rekonstruksi peristiwa. Catatan mengenai Gereja Advent didapatkan melalui majalah sezaman yang diterbitkan oleh gereja dan didukung dengan wawancara pelaku dan saksi sejarah. Sedangkan sumber mengenai kolonisasi dan transmigrasi serta tentang misi dan zending gereja lain menggunakan buku-buku yang telah membahas hal serupa. Sumber yang telah didapatkan kemudian diverifikasi dan diinterpretasi. Tahap paling akhir yaitu penulisan dan rekonstruksi sesuai dengan rumusan masalah. Dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa kebijakan pembangunan negara berkaitan erat dengan penyebaran agama Kristen di kawasan transmigrasi Lampung. Negara yang menghadirkan harapan tentang kesejahteraan kepada para transmigran ternyata gagal mewujudkannya. Kebutuhan fundamental mereka tidak mampu dipenuhi oleh negara. Di titik ini lantas misionaris Gereja Advent menangkap peluang dengan melakukan karya misi mengikuti kebutuhan penduduk di kawasan transmigrasi yang mereka datangi.

So far the study of colonization and transmigration in Indonesia has often been identified with demographic, economic, agricultural, etc. In addition to these matters, the transmigration program brings new possibilities, namely the spread of religion, in this case Christianity. The growth of various churches as well as the shifting beliefs of colonists and transmigrants coincided with the implementation of increasingly massive programs carried out by the government, both from the colonial period until after Indonesia's independence. One of the churches that benefited from the transfer of hundreds of thousands of Javanese residents to Lampung was the Adventist Church. This study outlines the link between transmigration and the development of the Adventist Church in Lampung from 1924 to 1990s. After determining the theme, the research was continued by looking for primary and secondary sources as material to reconstruct events. Records of the Adventist Church are obtained through contemporary magazines published by the church and supported by interviews with historical actors and witnesses. Whereas the sources of colonization and transmigration as well as the mission and zending of other churches use books that have discussed similar things. The sources that have been obtained are then verified and interpreted. The last stage is writing and reconstructing in accordance with the formulation of the problem. From the research that has been done it can be concluded that the country's development policy is closely related to the spread of Christianity in the Lampung transmigration area. The government of Indonesia that presents hope for welfare to transmigrants has failed to make it happen. Their fundamental needs cannot be fulfilled by the state. At this point the Adventist Church missionaries seized the opportunity to carry out missionary work following the needs of the population in the transmigration area they visited.
