PENGARUH KONSENTRASI EKSTRAK KAYU MANIS (Cinnamomum burmanii) TERHADAP KEKUATAN TRANSVERSAL PLAT GIGI TIRUAN THERMOPLASTIC NYLON

Thermoplastic nylon merupakan suatu bahan basis gigi tiruan yang bersifat lentur, lebih tipis, dan translusen yang sering digunakan di bidang kedokteran gigi. Thermoplastic nylon memiliki kekurangan yaitu bersifat mudah menyerap air. Kayu manis memiliki kandungan sinamaldehid dan fenol. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengkaji pengaruh konsentrasi ekstrak kayu manis terhadap kekuatan transversal plat gigi tiruan thermoplastic nylon. Penelitian yang dilakukan menggunakan sampel penelitian berupa spesimen plat thermoplastic nylon berukuran 65x10x2,5 mm yang dibagi menjadi empat kelompok: kelompok pertama yang direndam di dalam aquades selama 4 hari, kelompok kedua yang direndam konsentrasi ekstrak kayu manis 40% selama 4 hari, kelompok ketiga yang direndam konsentrasi ekstrak kayu manis 50% selama 4 hari, dan kelompok keempat yang direndam konsentrasi ekstrak kayu manis 60% selama 4 hari. Kekuatan transversal plat gigi tiruan thermoplastic nylon diuji menggunakan Universal Testing Machine. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji ANAVA 1 jalur dilanjutkan dengan uji Post Hoc LSD dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan diperoleh data bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan nilai kekuatan transversal yang signifikan (p>0,05) antara kelompok 1,2,3, dan 4. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah perendaman dengan ekstrak kayu manis berpengaruh menurunkan kekuatan transversal plat gigi tiruan thermoplastic nylon dan konsentrasi ekstrak kayu manis 40% berpengaruh menurunkan kekuatan transversal dibandingkan 50% dan 60% pada plat gigi tiruan thermoplastic nylon.

Thermoplastic nylon is a flexible, thinner, and translucent denture basis material which is often used in the dentistry field. The deficiency of thermoplastic nylon is easy to absorb water or known as hydrophilic. Cinnamon contains cinnamaldehyde and phenol. This research aims to examine the influence of cinnamon extract concentrate on the transverse strength of a thermoplastic nylon denture plate. The research was conducted by using experiment sample in form of thermoplastic nylon specimens measuring 65x10x2.5 mm which was divided into four groups: the first group soaked in distilled water for four days, the second group soaked in cinnamon extract concentrate 40% for four days, the third group soaked in cinnamon extract concentrate 50% for four days, and the fourth group soaked in cinnamon extract concentrate 60% for four days. The transverse strength of the thermoplastic nylon denture plate was tested using the Universal Testing Machine. The data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA test continued by the Post Hoc LSD test with trust-rate 95%. The data gained from the research showed that there was no significant transverse strength value (p>0.05) difference between group 1, 2, 3, and 4. The conclusion of this research is the soaking with cinnamon extract influences the decrease of transverse strength of thermoplastic nylon denture plate and cinnamon extract 40% was more influential in reducing the transverse strength rather than cinnamon extract 50% and 60% on a thermoplastic nylon denture plate.
