PERANCANGAN BACK-END SISTEM INFORMASI UNTUK SUBSISTEM PENERBITAN UGM PRESS

Gadjah Mada University Press (UGM Press) adalah salah satu unit usaha Universitas Gadjah Mada yang berkutat pada jasa percetakan dan penerbitan buku. Pada proses bisnisnya, UGM Press memiliki alur penerbitan dari penulis ingin menerbitkan buku di UGM Press hingga UGM Press menerbitkan buku tersebut. Proses pemantauan dan pengerjaan yang digunakan dalam penerbitan mengandalkan pembaharuan manual oleh karyawan menggunakan aplikasi pihak ketiga dan pencatatan kertas. Hal ini membuat pegawai UGM Press kurang efisien dan produktif dalam melaksanakan tugasnya karena data tidak tersinkronisasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi dengan merancang sistem informasi berbasis website pada UGM Press khususnya pada sisi back-end. Pengembangan sistem informasi dibuat menggunakan metode Iterative and Incremental Development (IID) dengan framework CodeIgniter menggunakan teknik pemrograman Model, View, and Controller (MVC) dan bahasa pemrograman PHP yang terhubung ke basis data MySQL sehingga diharapkan sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna dan dapat dijalankan dengan mudah sehingga nantinya pengelolaan proses bisnis dapat berlangsung pada satu aplikasi saja agar meningkatkan efisiensi dan produktivitas kerja. Keberhasilan fitur diuji menggunakan metode pengujian fungsionalitas black box testing. Hasil dari penelitian adalah Sistem Informasi GAMA Press (SIGAP) yang dikembangkan melalui 10 iterasi berdasarkan metode IID. Pengujian dari sistem tersebut memberikan hasil 75 pengujian sukses dari 75 kasus yang diujicobakan. Pengguna sistem kini dapat memantau dan mengerjakan pekerjaan secara terintegrasi dalam satu sistem.

Gadjah Mada University Press (UGM Press) is one of the business units owned by Gadjah Mada University that handles book printing and publishing. On its business process, UGM Press has a procedure from when an author wanted to publish his/her book until UGM Press print that book. The process of monitoring and working on UGM Press is using third party application and notes on paper. Therefore, the situation makes the staffs inefficient and ineffective on doing their jobs because the data are not synchronized. The main purpose of this research is to give solution by designing web based information system on UGM Press, specifically on back-end side. This system is developed using Iterative and Incremental Development (IID) method with CodeIgniter framework and PHP programming language that connected to database via MySQL with the hope that the system will satisfy the needs of users and can be used easily so it could reduce the usage of multiple ways of handling data into one single application with the hope of improving the work efficiency and productivity. The successfulness of the features will be tested by black box testing method that tests the functionality of the system. The result of this research is GAMA Press Information System (SIGAP) that developed from 10 iteration according to IID method. The test of the system gave 75 successful test from 75 tested case. Now, the user of the SIGAP can do their jobs on one integrated system.
