Pengelolaan sumberdaya hutan di Desa Sedayu telah dilaksanakan secara kolektif melalui Lembaga Masyarakat Desa Hutan (LMDH). Desa Sedayu memiliki wilayah Hutan Pangkuan Desa (HPD) yang secara admistratif berada pada RPH Loano dan RPH Katerban, BKPH Purworejo, KPH Kedu Selatan. Interaksi antara masyarakat dengan negara, dalam konteks mengelola sumberdaya hutan rentan menimbulkan permasalah sosial. Modal sosial diyakini mampu untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai pemecah masalah sosial. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui modal sosial yang dimiliki oleh masyarakat Desa Sedayu dalam pengelolaan sumberdaya hutan dan mengetahui relasi antara modal sosial masyarakat Desa Sedayu dengan pelaksanaan pengelolaan sumberdaya hutan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara dengan alat bantu berupa kuisioner. Data yang didapatkan berupa data tentang potensi modal sosial yang ada di Desa Sedayu, data tentang pelaksanaan PHBM yang telah dilakukan serta data sekunder yang berupa arsip-arsip yang berkaitan dengan LMDH dan kondisi desa. Data dan informasi yang diperoleh dianalisis sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian melalui metode analisis deskriptif yaitu memberikan gambaran secara faktual tentang modal sosial yang dimiliki oleh masyarakat, serta relasi antara modal sosial tersebut dengan pengeloaan sumberdaya hutan. Berdasar hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa di Desa Sedayu terdapat modal sosial yang meliputi pengetahuan masyarakat dalam mengelola sumberdaya hutan; norma, peraturan, dan hukum lokal yang berlaku; kepercayaan serta jaringan secara internal dan eksternal. Modal sosial tersebut yang kemudian digunakan sebagai modal untuk membangun LMDH. Modal sosial yang dimiliki masyarakat semakin kuat karena adanya LMDH. Modal sosial tersebut mempunyai dampak positif dalam pengelolaan sumberdaya hutan dan peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat.

The forest resource management at Sedayu Village has done collectively by Lembaga Masyarakat Desa Hutan (LMDH). Sedayu Village has Hutan Pangkuan Desa (HPD) area which administratively lies in RPH Loano and RPH Katerban, BKPH Purworejo, KPH Kedu Selatan. The interaction between community and state in the context of forest resource management is relapse to emerge social problem. It is believed that social capital is able to be used for solving social problems. This research is aimed at identification of social capital which exists in Sedayu Village community in relation to forest resource management and the relationship between Sedayu Village community social capital and the execution of forest resource management. A survey method is applied in this research. Data collected includes primary data and secondary data. The primary data were taken from respondents by structured interview with questioner as instrument. The primary data collected were in relation to the potency of social capital as well as the execution of PHBM system at Sedayu Village. The secondary data includes the information about LMDH, the village and the community in relation to the forest resources management. A descriptive analysis were employed to illustrate the existing social capital and its relation to forest resources management at Sedayu Village. This research found that social capital in relation to forest resources management exists in the community at Sedayu Village. The social capital includes norm, regulation, local law, beliefs, internal and external network. These social capitals have become essential capital to establish LMDH and the existence of LMDH has strengthened the social capitals. These social capitals have positive impacts to forest resource management and prosperity improvement in the area. This could be indicated by the decrease of forest disturbances, improvement of institutional network between community and Perum Perhutani, and the increase in number of productive activities and level of prosperity.
