FENOMENA KONTESTASI RUANG PADA PENGEMBANGAN SEKTOR PARIWISATA DI KABUPATEN LOMBOK UTARA (STUDI KASUS: AKTIVITAS PRODUKSI RUANG PARIWISATA)

Tesis ini meletakkan fokus pada kajian tentang fenomena kontestasi ruang, khususnya yang terjadi pada konteks pengembangan pariwisata di Kabupaten Lombok Utara. Proses identifikasi yang digunakan untuk mengungkap hal tersebut, melewati tiga tahapan penelitian yang meliputi: identifikasi keterlibatan aktor/pihak, mengungkap mekanisme dan dinamika kontestasi ruang, dan melihat perubahan apa saja yang terjadi sebagai akibat dari implikasi kontestasi ruang. Ketiga tahapan penelitian ini, dianalisis berdasarkan konsep trikotomi produksi ruang yang diteorisasikan oleh Henri Lefebvre, yiatu: praktik spasial, representasi ruang, dan ruang representasional. Kemudian penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, dengan pendekatan interpretatif. Sajian hasil penelitian ini telah mengkonfirmasi bahwa fenomena kontestasi ruang di Kabupaten Lombok Utara, menunjukkan alur dialektika sosial yang mengarah pada perebutan akses dan kontrol atas suatu ruang, untuk dapat diproduksi dan direproduksi. Dan dalam tahap itu, dapat ditemukan adanya interkoneksi antar aktor/pihak dengan ragam kepentingan-nya yang berbeda-beda, adanya pembentukan diskursus, adanya suatu perubahan (sosial, ekonomi, dan politik), munculnya sebuah gerakan, hingga perebutan ruang sebagai komoditas yang memiliki nilai.

This thesis focuses on the study of space contestation phenomena, especially those that occur in the context of tourism development in North Lombok. The identification process that used to reveal this, passes through three stages of research which include: the identification of actor/parties involvement, uncovering the mechanism and dynamics of space contestation, and see what kind of changes that occur as an impact of the implications of space contestation. The three stages of this research were analyzed based on the conceptual triad of the production of space which founded by Henri Lefebvre, namely: spatial practice, representation of space, and representational space. Then this research uses qualitative methods with an interpretive approachment. The results of this research has assumed that the phenomenon of space contestation in North Lombok, shows a path of social dialectic that leads to the seizure of access and control of a space, to be produced and reproduced. And at that stage, can be found an interconnections between actors/parties with varying interests, the construction of discourse, the existence of a change (social, economic, and politic), the appearance of a social movement, until the seizure for space as a commodity that has value.
