PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang Agroindustri yang mengolah kelapa sawit menjadi Crude Palm Oil (CPO) dan Palm Kernel (PK). Perusahaan ini berada di kelurahan Batang Terap, kecamatan Perbaungan, kabupaten Serdang Bedagai, Sumatera Utara. Selama magang penulis ditempatkan di departemen laboratorium yang bertugas untuk menganalisis asam lemak bebas (ALB), kadar air dan kadar kotoran CPO tanki timbun dan CPO yang akan dikirim ke distributor serta membantu dan mempelajari analisis mutu bahan baku, mutu proses dan mutu produk yang ada di laboratorium. Setelah dilakukan analisis, didapat bahwa nilai asam lemak bebas, kadar air, dan kadar kotoran pada CPO tanki timbun dan CPO yang akan dikirim ke distributor masih memenuhi standar yaitu ALB 3.5%, kadar air 0.15%, dan kadar kotoran 0.20%.

PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV is a company engaged in Agroindustry which processes the palm oil to Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Palm Kernel (PK). This company is located in Kelurahan Batang Terap, Kecamatan Perbaungan, Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai, West Sumatera. During the internship, writer is placed in the laboratory department which duty to analyze Free Fatty Acid (FFA), moisture content and levels of impurities of the CPO tank deposit and CPO that will be sent to distributor also help and study the quality of raw materials, process quality and product quality in the laboratory. After analysis, get that the value of free fatty acid, water contents and impurities of CPO in the tank deposit and CPO will be sent to distributor still meets the standards which is equal to 3.5% of FFA, 0.15% of water contents and 0.20% of level of impurities
