Perubahan paradigma pengelolaan hutan di Pulau Jawa mendorong digulirkannya sebuah sistem pengelolaan hutan yang mengakomodir kepentingan masyarakat. Sistem ini menempatkan masyarakat desa sekitar hutan untuk ikut terlibat secara langsung dalam mengelola hutan yang masuk kedalam petak hutan pangkuan desa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi riil dari lembaga masyarakat desa hutan “LPSDH - Argowilis”, mengetahui peran dan fungsi sosial dari berdirinya lembaga masyarakat desa hutan (LMDH) “LPSDH – Argowilis”. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif – fenomenologi. Metode ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sesuatu hal yang bersifat fenomena dengan mengetahui tanggapan – tanggapan dan kejadian – kejadian yang terjadi di lapangan. Penyajian informasi yang diterapkan pada hasil penelitian ini berupa deskripsi yang bercerita (deskriptif – naratif). Selain menggunakan kedua metode diatas, penelitian ini juga menggunakan metode pendokumentasian yang berupa gambar dan pengumpulan informasi – informasi yang telah terdokumentasikan. Dari penelitian ini diperoleh informasi bahwasanya Lembaga masyarakat desa hutan “LPSDH – Argowilis” berdiri sejak tahun 2002, lembaga masyarakat desa hutan “LPSDH – Argowilis” merupakan salah satu bentuk lembaga masyarakat desa hutan yang independen dan berdiri atas kehendak masyarakat tanpa adanya dorongan dan paksaan dari pihak perhutani sebagai pengelola lahan hutan. Lembaga masyarakat desa hutan “LPSDH – Argowilis” memiliki program kegiatan yang mendorong anggota LMDH “LPSDH – Argowilis” guna memperoleh pendidikan yang lebih layak dan kehidupan yang lebih baik. LMDH “LPSDH-Argowilis” memiliki beberapa pandangan negatif di kalangan masyarakat desa Sokawera yang menurut penilaian masyarakat telah keluar dari jalur dan semangat berdirinya LMDH “LPSDH – Argowilis”

The paradigm changing shift of forest management in Java forces the change of Forest Management System that accommodates the community. This system places the Village Community around the forest in a position so that they may take part in managing the forest which is a part of their village forest plot. This research aims to ascertain the real condition of forest village community institution (FVCI) “LPSDH – Agrowilis”, to ascertain the social role and function of the establishment of forest village community institution (FVCI) “LPSDH – Agrowilis”. This research uses qualitative approach – phenomenology as the method. This method aims to discover some phenomenon by finding out responses and incidences in the field. The results of this research are presented descriptively (descriptive – narrative). Besides the two methods mentioned before, this research also uses documentation method in the form of pictures and the collection of information that has been documented. It can be acquired from this research that the forest village community institution “LPSDH – Agrowilis” was established in 2002. The forest village community institution “LPSDH – Agrowilis” is an independent institution that was established based on the intention of the society without any form of impulsion or force from perhutani, the forest manager. The forest village community institution “LPSDH – Agrowilis” has a program that encourages the members of the FVCI “LPSDH – Agrowilis” to acquire a better education and way of life. FVCI “LPSDH – Agrowilis” is considered negative by various members of the community of the Sokawera Village. They feel that it has no same spirit like when it was first founded.
