PENGARUH WAKTU PEMOTONGAN MALAI TIGA KULTIVAR SORGUM MANIS (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN HASIL NIRA

Penelitian yang berjudul Pengaruh Waktu Pemotongan Malai Tiga Kultivar Sorgum Manis (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Nira ini bertujuan untuk menentukan waktu pemotongan malai yang tepat terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil nira terbaik pada tiga kultivar sorgum. Penelitian lapangan dilakukan pada bulan Agustus-Desember 2017, di lahan Desa Srowot, Kabupaten Klaten, Laboratorium Fisiologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Gadjah Mada. Penelitian disusun dalam rancangan lingkungan berupa rancangan acak kelompok lengkap (RAKL) dan rancangan perlakuan berupa rancangan faktorial petak terbagi (split plot) 2 faktor. Faktor utama yaitu 3 kultivar (kultivar Numbu, Kawali, dan Super-1) dan anak faktor yaitu waktu pemotongan malai yaitu malai sorgum tidak dipotong sebagai kontrol, bunting, berbunga, dan biji masak susu. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan sidik ragam alfa=5%, dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) alfa=5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa waktu pemotongan malai yang tepat terhadap variabel pertumbuhan antara lain jumlah daun, jumlah anakan dan jumlah ruas pada waktu bunting, diameter batang pada waktu biji masak susu, tinggi tanaman pada kontrol, volume akar pada waktu bunting, panjang akar pada waktu berbunga, luas daun pada waktu berbunga, bobot segar total pada waktu berbunga dan bobot kering total pada waktu bunting. Sedangkan waktu pemotongan malai yang tepat dalam menghasilkan volume nira terbanyak yaitu pada waktu berbunga. Bobot gula terbanyak pada waktu berbunga dan nilai brix tertinggi ada di waktu berbunga. Kultivar sorgum manis yang dapat menghasilkan volume nira paling banyak yaitu Super-1. Bobot gula paling tinggi yaitu kultivar Numbu dan Super-1 sedangkan nilai brix teringgi yaitu kultivar Numbu. Waktu pemotongan malai yang tepat terhadap pertumbuhan, hasil, dan kualitas hasil adalah waktu berbunga. Sedangkan sorgum manis kultivar Super-1 memiliki pertumbuhan, hasil, dan kualitas hasil yang baik dibandingkan kultivar Numbu dan Kawali.

The research entitled Effect of Cutting Time Panicle of Three Sweet Sorghum Cultivars (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) on Growth and Nira Result is aimed to determine the right time of the panicle cutting for growth and result of best nira in three sweet sorghum cultivars. The field research was done in August-December 2017, in Srowot, Klaten, Laboratory of physiology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Gadjah Mada. The research was arranged in environmental plan in the form of Complete Randomized Block Design (RCBD) and treatmental plan in the form of factorial split plot design with 2 factors. The main factor is 3 cultivars (Numbu , Kawali, and Super-1) and the subfactor cutting panicle time is control (panicle is not cut), booting time, flowering time and milking time. The data were analyzed with analysis of variance alfa=5%, continued by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) alfa=5%. The results of the research showed that the right time of panicle cutting to some growth variables are number of leaves, number of shoot, and number of segments in booting time, the stem diameter in milking time, height of the plant in control, root volume in booting time, root length in flowering time, leaves area in flowering time, fresh total weight in flowering time and dry total weight in booting time. While the right time of panicle cutting could produce the most nira volume in flowering time. Most sugar weight is in the flowering time and the highest brix value is also in the flowering time. Sweet sorghum cultivar which could produce the most nira volume is Super-1. Most sugar weight is produced by Numbu cultivar and Super-1 cultivar while the highest brix point is produced by Numbu cultivar. Proper panicle cutting times for growth, yield, and yield quality are the flowering time. While sweet sorghum of Super-1 cultivars has growth, yield, and yield quality of good result compared to Numbu cultivar and Kawali cultivar.
