Penelitian ini membahas tentang perkembangan industri gudeg di Wijilan sejak perintisan pada tahun 1946 hingga tahun 2014. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga membahas mengenai pengaruh yang ditimbulkan oleh keberadaan industri gudeg terhadap kehidupan sosial ekonomi masyarakat Kampung Wijilan. Dalam membahas perkembangan industrinya dibagi menjadi 2 periode, yaitu tahun 1946-2000 yang disebut sebagi periode perkembangan awal dan tahun 2000-2014 sebagai periode perkembangan dan perubahan menuju industri sentra. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses perkembangan yang terjadi pada Kampung Wijilan dari awal perintisan hingga menjadi sentra gudeg terbesar di Yogyakarta. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian sejarah yang meliputi pemilihan topik, pengumpulan sumber, kritik sumber (verifikasi), intepretasi, dan penulisan. Pengumpulan sumber dilakukan melalui kajian studi literatur, wawancara, observasi lapangan, dan penelusuran arsip. Berdasarkan penelitan yang dilakukan, disimpulkan bahwa industri gudeg mulai muncul pada tahun 1946 dan berkembang pesat memasuki tahun 1990an hingga 2014. Perkembangan yang terjadi diantaranya dipengaruhi faktor geografis dan teknologi. Keberadaan industri gudeg yang semakin berkembang kemudian memberi pengaruh positif terhadap kondisi sosial ekonomi masyarakat Kampung Wijilan.

This study discusses about the development of gudeg industry in Wijilan since 1946 until 2014. In addition, this study also discusses the influence caused by the existence of gudeg industry to the socio-economic life of the community of Wijilan Village. In discussing the development of the industry is divided into 2 periods, namely 1946-2000 which is called as the period of early development, and the year 2000-2014 as the period of development and change towards the central industry. Furthermore, this study aims to determine the process of development that occurred in Wijilan Village from the beginning of pioneering to become the biggest gudeg center in Yogyakarta. The method used is historical research methods that include the selection of topics, source collection, source criticism (verification), interpretation, and writing. The collection of sources is done through literature review studies, interviews, field observations, and archive searches. Based on this research, it is concluded that the gudeg industry began to emerge in 1946 and growing rapidly entering the 1990s until 2014. The developments that occur are influenced by geographical and technological factors. The existence of gudeg industry is growing and then give a positive influence on the socio-economic conditions of Kampung Wijilan community.
