ELEMEN FISIK FAKTOR WAYFINDING DI PERUMAHAN NOGOTIRTO, GAMPING, SLEMAN, YOGYAKARTA

Perumahan merupakan pemukiman yang umumnya telah memiliki jalan lingkungan yang teratur, memiliki fasilitas umum yang memadai, serta blok rumah yang telah terkapling. Dalam perkembangannya, perumahan umumnya terdiri dari banyak blok. Namun tidak semua pembangunannya serentak. Hal ini seringkali membuat letak antara satu blok dengan blok lainnya tidak teratur. Contoh dalam kasus ini adalah perumahan Nogotirto. Di perumahan Nogotirto yang terdiri dari lima blok, seringkali muncul permasalahan yakni pengunjung mengalami kebingungan untuk menemukan suatu lokasi di perumahan ini. Teori dalam urban design yang mempelajari fenomena ini adalah teori wayfinding. Salah satu faktor pendukung wayfinding adalah faktor fisik yang mempengaruhi pelaku wayfinding dalam berorientasi. Maka pendekatan penelitian ini mengacu pada elemen fisik. Parameter penelitian ini mengacu pada teori Kevin Lynch mengenai citra kawasan pendukung wayfinding yang terdiri dari path, nodes, landmark, edge, distrik, Teori Passini mengenai faktor wayfinding, dan Teori penanda dan petanda. Teori Kevin Lynch berfungsi sebagai sarana untuk mengklasifikasikan wujud elemen fisik yang muncul, sedangkan teori Passini menjelaskan proses wayfinding yang dipengaruhi oleh elemen fisik, sedangkan teori penanda dan petanda mengklasifikasikan sifat elemen fisik yang muncul di area penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini mendeskripsikan elemen-elemen fisik yang menentukan proses wayfinding di perumahan Nogotirto dimulai dari mensimulasikan proses wayfinding dengan melibatkan volunteer peserta penelitian, yang kemudian peserta wayfinding tersebut akan dipelajari dengan melihat performa wayfindingnya, yang terdiri dari kerumitan jalur yang dilewati, posisi peserta kebingungan, dan elemen fisik yang ditemukan melalui komunikasi dengan narasumber yang ditemui di area penelitian dan ditentukan sendiri oleh peserta, sehingga permasalahan wayfinding tersebut dapat diketahui penyebabnya dan elemen fisik apa saja yang mempengaruhinya.

Housing are the type of urban area that commonly have straight and regular street pattern, complete public facility, and regular house blocks with similar style and size. In term of its development, housing commonly consist of many house blocks with several houses for each block. But the problem is not all block are builds in the same time, this problem make the site of the blocks sometimes irregularly. For example of these case are Nogotirto Housing. Nogotirto Housing consist at least five blocks, which show a problem that the visitors seems get confuse or get lost when they try found their destination. The theory of urban design that focus on these case is wayfinding theory. One of wayfinding factor is physical factor which determine how people make their decision in wayfinding process, So the thesis approach consist of therories related in physical element. This thesis parameters consists of theory of Kevin Lynch Image of the cities that support wayfinding process which consist of path, nodes, district, landmark, and edge, Passini's theories that explain the process of wayfinding itself, and Signified and Signifier (Semiotics) in wayfinding. Kevin Lynch theory rules for classify the form of physical elements that found in Nogotirto housing, while Passini's theory used to explain the process of wayfinding which influenced by physical element and Signified and Signifier theory is used to classified the character of the physical elements that found in research area. The results of this research are to describe the physical elements that decide the wayfinding process at Nogotirto housing which start from simulate the process of wayfinding it self with helps by Volunteers that becomes wayfinding participats, that would be studied from their wayfinding performance that consists of the route level complexity, the position that participant feel confuse or lost and the number of physical elements that found by interviewer or by participats itself, so the cause wayfinding problems can be found and what physical elements that influence it.
