Economic Impact of the Taman Pintar Science Center on the Local Economy in Yogyakarta

Dalam penelitian ini, analisis input output digunakan untuk menganalisa struktur ekonomi dan melakukan analisis keterkaitan di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta). Lebih jauh, penelitian ini fokus pada analisa dampak ekonomi Taman Pintar Science Center (TPSC) pada perekonomian di Yogyakarta. Dengan mengadopsi metodologi yang dikembangkan oleh Hideo Yasuda (2008), disusunlah Tabel Input Output Yogyakarta (TIOY) yang baru di mana anggaran TPSC diletakkan sebagai sektor baru untuk mengukur dampak dari TPSC (Yasuda, 2008). Dengan menerapkan metodologi ini, beberapa indikator ekonomi penting dapat diukur, termasuk: keterkaitan ke depan dan belakang, rasio swasembada (self-sufficient), dampak produksi yang dihasilkan oleh output TPSC, dan dampak output pertama dan kedua yang disebabkan oleh konsumsi pengunjung. Penelitian ini menghasilkan beberapa poin penting. Pertama, sektor pendidikan merupakan sektor penting di Yogyakarta. Kedua, keberadaan TPSC menjadi komponen penting dalam sektor pendidikan hal ini dapat dilihat dari rasio swasembada yang tinggi dan nilai dampak ekonomi TPSC yang besar. Dampak ekonomi TPSC hasil dari output TPSC sebesar Rp.21.19 miliar, sedangkan dampak total yang ditimbulkan oleh konsumsi pengunjung sebesar Rp.16.86 miliar.

In this investigation, an input output analysis is used to examine the general economic structure and conduct a linkage analysis of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Furthermore, it will focus on examination of the economic impact of the Taman Pintar Science Center (TPSC) on the Yogyakarta economy. Adopted methodology developed by Hideo Yasuda (2008), new Yogyakarta Input Output Table (YIOT) which set science center budget item as new sector was constructed to measure the impact of the TPSC (Yasuda, 2008). By applying this methodology, several important economic indicators can be measured. These include: the forward linkages and the backward linkage multiplier, the self-sufficient ratio, the production impact induced by the TPSC output, and the first and second output impact induced by visitor consumption. The results of this investigation imply several crucial points. Firstly, the education sector is an important sector in Yogyakarta. Secondly, the existence of TPSC become important component of the education sector. In addition, both the education sector and the TPSC have strong inter-relations (e.g., high self-sufficient ratio and large TPSC economic impact value). The TPSC economic impact from the output inducement count was found to be Rp.21.19 billion, while the total impact induced by the visitor consumption count was found to be Rp.16.86 billion.
