KELIRU DENGAR BUNYI VOKAL YANG DIALAMI OLEH MAHASISWA JURUSAN BAHASA JERMAN

Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan survey pada mahasiswa jurusan bahasa Jerman, yang dilakukan dengan memberikan kuesioner dan tanya jawab tentang kesulitan-kesulitan dalam belajar bahasa Jerman. Hasil survey mengungkapkan bahwa mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam mempersepsi bunyi vokal bahasa Jerman yang membuat mereka kesulitan dalam memahami ujaran penutur asli. Dari hasil survey tersebut maka penelitian ini merumuskan tiga rumusan masalah yakni (1) bunyi-bunyi vokal bahasa Jerman apa saja yang cenderung menyebabkan keliru dengar, (2) bagaimana peran konteks dalam membantu mengurangi keliru dengar (3) apa faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan keliru dengan pada mahasiswa jurusan bahasa Jerman. Data dikumpulkan dari 20 mahasiswa jurusan bahasa Jerman yang berada di semester delapan, melalui tes menyimak, kuesioner dan wawancara. Kemudian data dianalisis dengan mengidentifikasi bunyi-bunyi vokal yang didengar salah oleh mahasiswa dan dihitung persentase dari tes menyimak dengan dan tanpa konteks. Hasil dari analisis menunjukkan bahwa bunyi-bunyi vokal yang cenderung menyebabkan keliru dengar ialah bunyi vokal depan yang dibentuk dengan membundarkan bibir. Selanjutnya, hasil analisis juga mengungkapkan bahwa konteks berperan dalam membantu mahasiswa mengurangi keliru dengar meskipun tidak terlalu signifikan. Terakhir, ditemukan bahwa penyebab keliru dengar terjadi karena adanya faktor dari dalam bahasa dan luar bahasa.

This research was conducted based on a survey to students in German Department. The survey consists of the student's answers toward questionnaire and interview about the difficulties in learning German. The survey reveals that they have difficulty in perceiving vowel sounds in German which makes them difficult to comprehend the native's speech. The survey leads the research to investigate three objectives i.e. (i) what kind of German vowel sounds which tend to cause slip of the ears; (ii) How context plays a role to help decreasing the slip of the ears, (iii) What factors which cause slip of the ears in the students of the German department. The data were collected from 20 college students of German Department in eighth semester who did listening test, filled out the questionnaire, and got interviewed. Then, the data were analyzed by identifying the vowel sounds that are misperceived by students and found the percentage of the listening test with and without context. The analysis shows that the vowel sounds which cause the slip of the ears are front vowel sounds produced by shaping the lips round like. Furthermore, the analysis also reveals that the context plays an important role to help the students so that it decreased the slip of the ears even though it was not significant. The last, the research comes to the conclusion that the slip of the ears occurs due to interlingual and extralingual factors.
