Motor DC merupakan salah satu mesin listrik yang mengubah energi listrik menjadi energi mekanik. Motor DC memerlukan suplai tegangan searah pada kumparan medan untuk memutar kumparan jangkar. Energi mekanik ini digunakan untuk, misalnya : memutar impeller, pompa, fan atau blower, menggerakkan crane, dan menggulung kabel sehingga dibutuhkan perawatan yang maksimal untuk menjaga kondisi motor tersebut. Salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kondisi motor DC adalah terjadinya percikan api pada motor tersebut. Pada kesempatan magang ini penulis mengerjakan Proyek Akhir berupa studi kasus tentang sebuah motor DC dengan daya output 250 kW, tegangan 440/155 V, dan arus 612/14.4 A, dimana terjadi percikan api. Langkah perbaikan motor DC melalui beberapa proses, seperti inspeksi kedatangan dan inspeksi kelistrikan. Hasil dari pengamatan secara visual diperoleh bahwa kondisi permukaan dari sikat arang sudah tidak rata sehingga menimbulkan percikan api di daerah sekitarnya.

DC motor is one of the electric machines that convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. The dc motor requires a unidirectional voltage supply on the field coil to rotate the anchor coil. This mechanical energy is used for, for example: rotating the impeller, pump, fan or blower, operating the crane, and rolling the cable. So that required maximum maintenance to maintain the condition of the motor. One of the factors that can affect the condition of dc motor is the occurrence of sparks on the motor. On this apprentice, the writer works on the final project in the form of a case study of a dc motor with 250 kW output power, 440/155 V voltage, and 612 / 14.4 A current, where sparks occur. Step improvement dc motor through several processes, such as incoming inspection and electrical inspection. The result of visual observation shows that the surface condition of the charcoal brush is uneven, causing sparks in the surrounding area.
