STUDI KOMPARASI FREKUENSI NAFAS DAN PULSUS PADA ULAR Malayopython reticulatus MUDA DAN DEWASA

Frekuensi nafas dan pulsus adalah data fisiologis yang penting untuk penentuan status kesehatan pasien ular. Literatur mengenai data fisiologis berupa frekuensi nafas dan pulsus yang spesifik pada ular sanca batik (Malayopython reticulatus) saat ini masih belum tersedia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan frekuensi nafas dan pulsus pada ular sanca batik muda dan dewasa sehat. Penelitian menggunakan 5 ular sanca batik muda dan 5 ular sanca batik dewasa sehat dengan jenis kelamin jantan dan atau betina. Penghitungan frekuensi nafas dilakukan dengan inspeksi gerakan mengembang dan mengempis pada area toraks. Frekuensi pulsus dihitung dengan cara palpasi denyut jantung. Suhu dan kelembaban lingkungan diukur menggunakan termohigrometer. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada pagi dan sore hari selama lima hari berturut-turut. Data frekuensi nafas dan pulsus ditabulasi dan dianalisis menggunakan aplikasi SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ular sanca batik (Malayopython reticulatus) muda memiliki frekuensi nafas dengan rentang nilai 10-41 kali/menit, rata-rata 18 (3) kali/menit dan frekuensi pulsus dengan rentang nilai 21-72 kali/menit, rata-rata 38 (2) kali/menit. Frekuensi nafas ular sanca batik (Malayopython reticulatus) dewasa berada pada rentang nilai 6�39 kali/menit, rata-rata 17 (8) kali/menit dan frekuensi pulsus rentang nilai 28-77 kali/menit, rata-rata 51 (2) kali/menit. Frekuensi nafas dan pulsus pada sanca batik (Malayopython reticulatus) muda dan dewasa tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan (P > 0,05).
Reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) is a native species of Indonesia that are widely kept as pets. Literatures regarding the specific physiological data which are respiration and pulse rate for juvenile reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) as of this moment are still not available. Respiration and pulse rate are important physiological data for determining the health status of snake. This study aims to compare the respiration and pulse rate of juvenile and adult reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus). This research uses 5 healthy juvenile reticulated pythons and 5 healthy adult reticulated pythons consisting of male and female. The calculation of respiration rate is done by inspecting thoracic movement. Pulse rate is calculated by palpating the heart. Environmental temperature and humidity are measured using a thermohygrometer. Data are collected in the morning and evening for five consecutive days. Respiration and pulse rate data were tabulated and analyzed using SPSS application. The results showed juvenile reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) had a respiration rate with a range of 10-41 times/minute and an average of 18 (3) times/minute and a pulse rate with a range of 21-72 times/minute and an average of 38 (2) times/minute. The respiration rate of adult reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) is in the range 6�39 times/minute and an average of 17 (8) times/minute and the of pulse rate with a range of 28-77 times/minute and an average of 51 (2) times/minute. Respiration and pulse rate in juvenile and adult reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) did not show significant difference (P> 0.05).
