THE CLASSIFICATION OF CULTURAL DOMESTIC TOURISTS TO THE SULTAN PALACE OF YOGYAKARTA

Wisata budaya memainkan peran penting terhadap industri pariwisata di Indonesia. Yogyakarta menjadi salah satu Destinasi di Indonesia yang memiliki berbagai ragam budaya seperti sejarah, candi, adat-istiadat, dan tradisi. Kraton Yogyakarta merupakan salah satu atraksi wisata yang terkenal di Yogyakarta akan kebudayaannya. Selain sejarah tentang masa lalu, mereka juga memiliki kesenian budaya seperti tarian, gamelan music, batik, dll. Namun, dari sekian banyak wisatawan yang berkunjung tidak semua wisatawan tergolong dalam kategori wisatawan budaya. Maka dari itu, penelitian bertujuan untuk mencari tahu tujuan wisatawan yang mengunjungi Kraton Yogyakarta dengan alasan mencari tahu tentang budayanya atau tidak. Pada penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif, dengan sasaran kuesioner terhadap pengunjung diatas 17 tahun dan berasal dari luar kota Yogyakarta. Dalam langkah akhir, data-data dianalisis dengan mengkombinasikan hasil akhir pada kuesioner lalu mengklasifikasinya. Terdapat lima jenis wisatawan budaya yang terdiri dari (1) Purposeful Cultural Tourist (2) Serendipitous Cultural Tourist (3) Incidental Cultural Tourist (4) Casual Cultural Tourist (5) Sightseeing Cultural Tourist. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, ditemukan bahwa tipe wisatawan "Incidental Cultural Tourists" merupakan jenis wisatawan budaya terbanyak yang mengunjungi Kraton Yogyakarta. Jenis wisatawan tersebut tidak memilih wisata budaya dalam rencana perjalanan wisata dan juga tidak mendapatkan pengalaman yang dalam ketika mengunjungi tempat tersebut.

Cultural tourism plays an important role for the industry of tourism in Indonesia. Yogyakarta has become one of many destinations in Indonesia which has a wide range of culture, such as histories, temples, customs, and traditions. Kraton Yogyakarta is one of the most famous tourist attraction in Yogyakarta regarding of its culture. In addition to the history of its past, Yogyakarta have many cultural objects such as dance, gamelan music, batik, etc. However, from the most tourists who visit Sultan Palace, not all of them are belong to the category of the cultural tourists. Thus, this research aims to find out the actual purposes of the tourists who visit Kraton Yogyakarta whether or not they want to know about its culture. In this study, the researcher uses a quantitative descriptive method by giving questionnaires to the visitors who are above 17 years of age and visitors who come from outside of the city. Finally, the data are analysed by combining the entire results of the questionnaires then classify them. There are five types of cultural tourists, which are (1) Purposeful Cultural Tourist (2) Serendipitous Cultural Tourist (3) Incidental Cultural Tourist (4) Casual Cultural Tourist (5) Sightseeing Cultural Tourist. Based on the data analysis, it reveals that the type of "Incidental Cultural Tourists" is the type of cultural tourists who mostly visit Kraton Yogyakarta. This type of tourists do not choose cultural tourism as their travel plans and get shallow experiences during their visit.
