PENGARUH MINUMAN BERSODA TERHADAP RETENSI MAGNETIK GIGI TIRUAN LENGKAP OVERDENTURE RAHANG BAWAH

INTISARI Overdenture adalah gigi tiruan lepasan sebagian atau gigi tiruan lengkap yang menutupi seluruh permukaan akar gigi atau implan. Fungsi utama overdenture adalah menambah retensi dan stabilisasi gigi tiruan terutama gigi tiruan lengkap. Kaitan magnet dapat ditambahkan pada konstruksi overdenture untuk meningkatkan retensi dan stabilisasi, meskipun kaitan magnet sudah sering digunakan pada overdenture tetapi magnet memiliki daya tahan terhadap korosi yang buruk sehingga daya tarik magnet dapat menurun. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengkaji apakah konsumsi minuman bersoda berpengaruh terhadap penurunan retensi magnetik gigi tiruan lengkap overdeture rahang bawah. Penelitian yang dilakukan menggunakan sampel penelitian berupa spesimen blok basis resin akrilik dengan retensi magnetik berukuran 35x6x20 mm yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok: kelompok pertama yang direndam di dalam aquades selama 5 hari dan kelompok kedua yang direndam di dalam minuman bersoda selama 5 hari. Kekuatan retensi magnetik diuji menggunakan Universal Testing Machine. Hasil analisis data dengan independet student t-test menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap perendaman di dalam minuman bersoda (p<0,05). Kesimpulan dari penelitian yang dilakukan adalah minuman bersoda berpengaruh terhadap penurunan retensi magnetik gigi tiruan lengkap overdenture rahang bawah. ABSTRACT Overdenture is defined as a removable partial denture or complete denture that covers roots of natural teeth or dental implants. Prime function of overdenture is to improve retention and stabilization of denture, particularly complete denture. Magnetic attachment can be added to overdenture construction to improve retention and stabilization, although magnetic attachment is frequently used for overdenture but magnets have poor corrosive resistance, so the attractive force can be decreased. The purpose of the research is to examine whether soft drinks have an effect on mandibular complete overdenture magnetic retention decrease. This study used experiment sample in the form of acrylic resin base block with magnetic retention specimens measuring 35x6x20 mm which was divided into two groups: the first group soaked in aquades, meanwhile the second one in soft drink for 5 days of each. The magnetic retention was tested using the Universal Testing Machine. The results of data analysis with independent student t-test showed significant effect on immersion in soft drink (p<0.05). The conclusion of the research conducted was soft drink had effect on decreasing magnetic retention of mandibular complete overdenture.
