KEJADIAN PENYAKIT GASTROINTESTINAL PADA KUCING DI RUMAH SAKIT HEWAN PROF SOEPARWI

Penyakit gastrointestinal merupakan penyakit yang cukup banyak terjadi pada kucing, baik kucing ras maupun kucing domestik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kejadian penyakit gastrointestinal pada kucing berdasarkan penyebab, lokasi keluhan, jenis kelamin dan umur di Rumah Sakit Hewan Prof Soeparwi periode Januari 2017 hingga Agustus 2017. Penelitian dilakukan dengan mengumpul materi penelitian yaitu ambulatoir pasien kucing selama 8 bulan dari Januari 2017 hingga Agustus 2017. Data tersebut ditabulasi mengikut keterlibatan sistem gastrointestinal, penyebab, lokasi keluhan, jenis kelamin dan umur. Dari hasil penelitian, didapati jumlah kejadian penyakit gastrointestinal sebanyak 757 dari 3314 (22.8%) pasien kucing di Rumah Sakit Hewan Prof Soeparwi selama periode penelitian. Sebanyak 42.4% penyakit gastrointestinal disebabkan oleh virus, dan lokasi sistem pencernaan yang paling sering mengalami penyakit adalah usus (45%). Kucing jantan mempunyai presentase kejadian lebih tinggi yaitu sebanyak 57%. Kejadian penyakit gastrointestinal tetinggi didapatkan pada kucing muda yang berumur kurang dari 1 tahun (59.8%). Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa kejadian penyakit gastrointestinal pada kucing di RSH Prof. Soeparwi periode Januari – Agustus 2017 dominan disebabkan oleh virus yang menyerang usus, dan terutama pada kucing umur kurang dari satu tahun. Dari hasil penelitian ini disarankan untuk melakukan tindakan pencegahan berupa vaksinasi sesuai prosedur.

Gastrointestinal disease is a fairly common disease in cats, both purebred and crossbred cats. This study aims to examine the incidence of gastrointestinal diseases in cats based on the cause, location of symptoms, gender and age at Soeparwi Animal Hospital from January 2017 to August 2017. The study was conducted by collecting research material that is the cat patient ambulatory for 8 months from January 2017 until August 2017. The data is tabulated following involvement of gastrointestinal system, cause, location of symptom, gender and age. From the results of the study, it was found that the incidence of gastrointestinal disease was 757 out of 3314 (22.8%) cat patients at Animal Soeparwi Hospital during the study period. A total of 42.4% of gastrointestinal diseases are caused by viruses, and the location of the most common symptom of the gastrointestinal system is the intestine (45%). Male cats have a higher percentage of incidences that is as much as 57%. The incidence of gastrointestinal disease was found highest in cats aged less than 1 year (59.8%). From the results of this study can be concluded that the incidence of gastrointestinal disease in cats in RSH Prof. Soeparwi period January - August 2017 is predominantly caused by a virus that attacks the intestines, and especially in cats lesser than one year old. From the results of this study it is advisable to take preventive measures in the form of vaccination according to procedure.
