Penerapan animal welfare dilakukan untuk memastikan penggunaan hewan coba diperlakukan secara manusiawi. Tujuan penulisan ini adalah untuk mengetahui cara penerapan animal welfare pada hewan laboratorium di National Laboratory Animal Center (NLAC). Penerapan animal welfare pada Rattus norvegicus berdasarkan five for freedom. Data pada Tugas Akhir ini diambil berdasarkan pengamatan saat PKL di National Laboratory Animal Center (NLAC) Mahidol University, Thailand periode 20 November - 2 Desember 2017. Penerapan animal welfare di NLAC dilakukan dengan berbagai kontrol kualitas, yaitu: monitoring ruang, monitoring kandang, monitoring pakan, dan perlakuan terhadap hewan afkir. Ruang produksi mengirimkan sampel pakan dan air minum ke ruang quality control secara rutin. Penerapan five for freedom pada Rattus norvegicus di NLAC sudah sesuai dengan Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP) NLAC, International Council for Laboratory Animal Science (ICLAS), National Research Council (NRC), dan World Health Organization (WHO) sehingga hewan dinyatakan sejahtera.

The application of animal welfare is done to ensure the laboratory animal treated humanely. The purpose of this writing is to understand the application of animal welfare of laboratory animal in NLAC (National Laboratory Animal Center). Data on this Final Papers was taken based on observations during the field work at NLAC (National Laboratory Animal Center), Mahidol University, Thailand period November 20-December 2, 2017. The application of animal welfare in NLAC is followed by various of monitoring, there are: room monitoring, food monitoring, cages monitoring, and treatment of cast-off animals. Production room send some sample of foods and drinking waters to quality control room routinely. The application of five for freedom of Rattus norvegicus in NLAC is accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of NLAC, International Council for Laboratory Animal Science (ICLAS), National Research Council (NRC), and World Health Organization (WHO) so the animal is welfare.
