INTISARI Penelitian ini berjudul Kedaulatan Rakyat dalam Pemikiran Filsafat Sosial John Rawls yang merupakan upaya untuk memahami dan menganalisis terkait perkembangan serta penerapan konsep kedaulatan rakyat dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat dan bernegara. Kedaulatan rakyat merupakan salah satu gagasan atau konsep yang memiliki kaitan erat dengan sistem demokrasi yang cukup populer saat ini. Demokrasi dengan asas kedaulatan rakyat yang terkandung di dalamnya sering dianggap sebagai sistem kenegaraan yang terbaik, meskipun masih belum sepenuhnya sempurna. Adapun penelitian ini merupakan upaya untuk memahami dan menganalisis secara mendalam dan menyeluruh mengenai gagasan atau konsep kedaulatan rakyat dalam perspektif pemikiran filsafat sosial John Rawls. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan yang menggunakan buku maupun jurnal sebagai referensi yang berkaitan dengan penerapan dan perkembangan konsep kedaulatan rakyat, sistem kelembagaan dan kenegaraan, serta pemikiran-pemikiran filsafat sosial John Rawls. Penelitian ini dimulai dengan pengumpulan data, pengelompokan data primer dan sekunder, sistemasi data penelitian, hingga analisis hasil. Adapun unsur-unsur metodis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dalam menganalisis data yaitu deskripsi, interpretasi, deduksi dan induksi, kohernsi interen, kesinambungan historis, dan analisis kritis. Hasil yang dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1) kedaulatan rakyat pada hakikatnya menekankan bahwa kekuasaan tertinggi terletak pada pihak atau tangan rakyat dengan asas dari rakyat, oleh rakyat, dan untuk rakyat, yang dalam penerapannya memiliki prinsip-prinsip pokok yaitu prinsip kebebasan dan kemerdekaan, prinsip keadilan dan kesetaraan, prinsip suara mayoritas, dan prinsip pertanggungjawaban, (2) garis besar pemikiran filsafat sosial John Rawls terkait justice as fairness dan public reason dapat menunjang dan mewujudkan penerapan konsep kedaulatan rakyat dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat dan bernegara dengan proses dan keadaan yang adil dan efektif seperti dalam negara demokrasi yang secara rinci dalam sistem pemerintahan demokrasi konstitusional.

ABSTRACT The title of this research is Kedaulatan Rakyat dalam Pemikiran Filsafat Sosial John Rawls as an attempt to understand and analyze the development and the practice of concept of the sovereignty of the people in social life. The sovereignty of the people is one of ideas or concepts that nowadays closely relates to the popular democratic system. Democracy within principle of the sovereignty of the people is often regarded as the best state system, though still not fully complete. This research is an attempt to comprehensively understand and analyze the idea or concept of people�s sovereignty in the perspective of social philosophy thought by John Rawls. This research is a library research that uses books and journals as references related to the practice and development of the concept of people�s sovereignty, institutional and state system, as well as the social philosophy thought by John Rawls. This research began with data collection, primary and secondary data classification, research data systemization, and ended up by the result analysis. The methodical elements used in this study in analyzing data are description, interpretation, deduction and induction, internal coherence, historical continuity, and critical analysis. The result of this research is as follows: (1) the sovereignty of the people essentially emphasizes that the ultimate power lies in the people with of the people, by the people, for the people�s principle which in its practice has the fundamental principles: the principle of freedom and independence, the principle of justice and equality, the principle of majority voting, and the principle of accountability; (2) the outline of the social philosophy of John Rawls related to justice as fairness and public reason can support and realize the practice of the concept of people�s sovereignty in the society life by fair and effective process as in a democratic country in the system of constitutional democratic government.
