STUDENT WORKSPACE DI YOGYAKARTA DENGAN PENDEKATAN KARAKTER GENERASI Z

Eksistensi pelajar di Yogyakarta adalah salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi identitas kota, maka dari itu kebutuhan pelajar adalah hal yang patut menjadi salah satu fokus yang harus dipenuhi dalam pembangunan khususnya untuk meningkatkan kualitas sistem pendidikan di Yogyakarta. Karenanya diperlukan adanya ruang belajar informal diluar institusi pendidikan atau student workspace untuk mewadahi tren pola belajar mandiri yang ada di Yogyakarta, tidak hanya untuk meningkatkan produktivitas pelajar namun juga sebagai ruang ekspresi generasi pelajar saat ini. Kesesuaian antara ruang dengan pengguna adalah salah satu kriteria yang diperlukan untuk mencapai sustainabilitas kegunaan ruang. Student Workspace sebagai ruang bagi para pelajar harus memiliki kesesuaian dengan karakter generasi pelajar saat ini agar ruang dapat digunakan semaksimal mungkin dalam meningkatkan produktivitas dan kreativitas pelajar. Pendekatan pemahaman karakter generasi saat ini adalah dengan melakukan tinjauan teori tentang Generasi Z sehingga student workspace nantinya harus dapat mengaplikasikan karakter Generasi Z dalam bahasa arsitektur. Generasi Z adalah generasi yang on-demand yaitu generasi yang memiliki banyak keinginan agar kepuasannya terpenuhi, sekalipun keinginan-keinginan yang terkait dengan produktivitas mereka tersebut terkadang bersifat saling kontradiktif, misalnya seperti adanya kebutuhan ruang kerja yang bebas diskusi namun sekaligus tenang dan menawarkan ruang fokus. Maka dari itu student workspace nantinya akan menyeimbangkan kebutuhan-kebutuhan Generasi Z tersebut dalam satu ruang produktif. Lokasi lahan untuk student workspace berada di Kelurahan Gondokusuman, Kecamatan Kota Baru, Yogyakarta yang dapat dibilang sebagai salah satu area pusat pendidikan di Yogyakarta. Konsiderasi utama adalah untuk menunjang kemudahan akses para pelajar yang ingin mengunjungi student workspace.

The existence of students in Yogyakarta is one of the factors that influences the identity of the city, therefore the needs of the student should be one of the focus that must be fulfilled to improve the quality of education system in Yogyakarta. An informal study room is required outside the educational institution to accommodate the trend of independent learning patterns of the student in Yogyakarta. Not only to increase student productivity but also as a space of expression for the current generation of students. The suitability between space and the user is one of the criteria needed to achieve sustainability of space. A Student Workspace, as a space for students, must be in conformity with the character of the current generation of students thus the space can be used as much as possible in improving the productivity and creativity of the student. One of the approach for understanding the character of the current generation is to conduct a theoritical review of Generation Z so that student workspace should be able to apply the character of Generation Z in architectural language. Generation Z is an on-demand generation that has many desires to satisfy its fulfillment, even though the desires associated with their productivity are sometimes contradictory, for example the need for a free discussion space but at the same time quiet and offers a focus space. Therefore the student workspace will then balance the needs of Generation Z in a productive space. The location of the site for student workspace is located in Gondokusuman, Kota Baru District, Yogyakarta which can be regarded as one of the central areas of education in Yogyakarta. The main consideration is to support the ease of access of students who wish to visit the student workspace. Keywords: Yogyakarta Student, Student Workspace, and Generation Z.
