The Determinants of Indonesian Non-oil and Gas Exports 2012-2016: A Gravity Model Approach

Penelitian ini ditujukan sebagai pengamatan atas determinan dari net ekspor non-migas Indonesia dari tahun 2012 hingga 2016 menggunakan pendekatan model gravitasi. Variabel dependen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah nilai net ekspor non-migas dalam juta dollar. Variabel independen yang digunakan adalah PDB per kapita, jumlah penduduk, jarak antar ibukota dan nilai tukar. Estimasi panel data dengan model random effect dari 12 negara dengan nilai net ekspor non-migas terbesar digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya signifikansi dari jumlah penduduk, jarak antar ibukota dan nilai tukar terhadap variable independen. Jumlah penduduk berdampak positif terhadap nilai net ekspor non-migas, sedangkan jarak antar ibukota dan nilai tukar berdampak negatif terhadap nilai net ekspor non-migas. PDB per kapita tidak berdampak signifikan terhadap nilai net ekspor non-migas Indonesia dari tahun 2012 hingga 2016.

This research is aimed to examine the determinants of Indonesian non-oil and gas exports during 2012-2016 periods using gravity model approach. The dependent variable for this research is Indonesian non-oil and gas exports value in million US Dollar. The independent variables used in this research are per capita GDP, number of population, distance between capital cities and exchange rate. Panel data estimation of 12 countries with the highest non-oil and gas import value is used in this research. The estimation model for this research is random effect model. The significance of number of importing countries’ population, distance between capital cities and exchange rate towards Indonesian non-oil and gas exports value became the result of this research. Number of population affect non-oil and gas export value positively, distance and exchange rate variables in the other hands affect non-oil and gas and gas export value negatively. Per capita GDP is estimated to be insignificant towards Indonesian non-oil and gas export value during 2012-2016 periods.
