Applying Balanced Scorecard Concept to Measure Rental Company Performance (Case Study: PT. Thunder Productions Indonesia Yogyakarta Branch)

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan Balanced Scorecard sebagai sistem pengukuran kinerja PT. Thunder Productions Indonesia cabang Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini diawali dengan membandingkan metode pengukuran kinerja yang diterapkan oleh PT. Thunder Productions Indonesia saat ini dengan konsep Balanced Scorecard. Kemudian, peneliti mengembangkan Balanced Scorecard untuk PT. Thunder Productions dengan menerjemahkan visi dan pernyataan misi perusahaan ke dalam strategi yang tepat, dan mengembangkan diagram hubungan sebab-akibat untuk menunjukkan hubungan antara masing-masing perspektif Balanced Scorecard. Diagram hubungan sebab-akibat berfungsi sebagai alat untuk menerjemahkan tujuan strategis perusahaan ke target yang terukur. Metode yang telah dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Untuk mengumpulkan data yang dibutuhkan, ada tiga teknik yang telah diterapkan: wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Proses wawancara dengan manajer operasional, manajer pemasaran, kepala tim produksi, dan staf administrasi PT. Thunder Productions Indonesia berfungsi sebagai metode utama penelitian untuk mengumpulkan data. Data yang telah diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa PT. Thunder Productions Indonesia Cabang Yogyakarta tidak memiliki sistem kinerja yang memadai karena sistem pengukuran sangat bergantung pada aspek keuangan. Balanced Scorecard akan lebih disukai untuk digunakan oleh perusahaan karena mengevaluasi lebih komprehensif.

The purpose of the research to develop a Balanced Scorecard as a performance measurement system of PT. Thunder Productions Indonesia Yogyakarta branch. This research was started by comparing the current performance measurement method implemented by PT. Thunder Productions Indonesia with the Balanced Scorecard concept. Then, the researcher developed a Balanced Scorecard for PT. Thunder Productions by translating the company’s vision and mission statement into appropriate strategies, and developing cause-and-effect relationship diagram to show the relationship between each perspective of the Balanced Scorecard. The cause-and-effect relationship diagram serves as a tool to translate the strategic objective of the company to measurable targets. The method that has been conducted in this research is descriptive analysis by using a qualitative approach. To gather the required data, there are three techniques that had been applied: interview, observation, and documentation. The interview process with the operational manager, marketing manager, head of the production team, and administration staff of PT. Thunder Productions Indonesia serves as the main method of the research to gather the data. The data that has been obtained were analyzed by using descriptive analysis. The results show that PT. Thunder Productions Indonesia Yogyakarta branch does not have an adequate performance system since it measurement system relies heavily on financial aspects. The Balanced Scorecard will be preferable for the company to use since it evaluates more comprehensively.
