Relasi Kerja Antar Pengrajin Batu Bata di Dusun Somoketro III, Desa Somoketro, Kecamatan Salam, Kabupaten Magelang

Dalam setiap industri yang berkembang di masyarakat terdapat faktor-faktor yang mengubah bentuk relasi kerja seiring dengan perkembangan zaman. Begitu pula yang terjadi di industri batu bata yang berkembang di suatu daerah yang berada di Kabupaten Magelang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu: (1) Memperoleh gambaran tentang relasi kerja yang terjalin antar aktor di industri batu bata (2) Mengetahui pergeseran relasi kerja yang ada (3) Mengetahui posisi tawar pengrajin batu bata terhadap tengkulak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Lokasi penelitian ini adalah Dusun Somoketro III, Desa Somoketro, Kecamatan Salam, Kabupaten Magelang. Subyek penelitian ini sebanyak 10 informan yang terdiri dari 7 pasangan pengrajin batu bata, seorang kepala dusun dan 2 orang tengkulak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa relasi antar aktor dalam industri batu bata merupakan relasi kerja sama yang dibangun oleh pemilik lahan, sesama pengrajin batu bata, buruh, serta tengkulak. Meski demikian, perkembangan zaman telah menggeser bentuk relasi kerja mereka dari proses pencarian bahan baku hingga proses pemasaran. Dalam proses pencarian bahan baku, relasi kerja terjalin antar pengrajin, pemilik lahan dan tengkulak. Sistem pemanfaatan tanah liat telah mengalami pergeseran dari bagi hasil menjadi sewa/kontrak. Hubungan antara pemilik lahan dan pengrajin batu bata adalah jalinan relasi yang digunakan sebagai 'asuransi' untuk mengamankan posisi mereka ketika tertimpa musibah. Selain itu, hadirnya teknologi telah membentuk sebuah relasi kerja baru berupa pinjam-meminjam mesin penggilingan tanah liat. Munculnya teknologi telah mengubah pemikiran dan sikap masyarakat. Selain itu, sistem kerja sama yang sebelumnya berbentuk rombongan bergeser mengandalkan buruh. Hal ini karena masyarakat menganggap bahwa buruh lebih dapat diandalkan dibanding rombongan yang bersifat sukarela. Sedangkan dalam proses pemasaran, terdapat relasi antar pengrajin dan dengan bakul/tengkulak. Tengkulak dapat meminjamkan modal dengan syarat pengrajin batu bata harus menjual batu batanya ke tengkulak dengan harga murah. Demi dapat bernegosiasi harga dengan tengkulak, pengrajin saling bertukar informasi dengan yang lain mengenai harga pasar. Ini merupakan suatu bentuk kerja sama yang digunakan pengrajin sebagai upaya untuk bertahan hidup (the struggle for life) dari permainan harga tengkulak.

In any developed industry in the community, there are factors that change the shape of the working relationship along with the development of the times. So did that occur in a developed brick industry in the Magelang Regency. The purpose of this study is: (1) Obtain an overview of the working relationship established between actors in the industry of bricks (2) Knowing the shift of work relations (3) Knowing the bargaining position of the craftsmen of the bricks against the middleman. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The location of this research is Somoketro III village, Somoketro, Salam District, Magelang Regency. The subject of this research is 10 informants consisting of 7 pairs of craftsmen, a village head and 2 of the middleman. The result showed that the relationship between actors in the bricks industry was a relation of cooperation built by the owner of the land, a fellow bricks craftsmen, labourers, and the middleman. However, the times have been shifting their working relationship forms from the search of raw materials process to the marketing process. In the process of raw materials, the employment relationship is created between craftsman, the owner of the land and the middleman. The system utilization of clay have been undergoing a shift from profit sharing into a lease/contract. The relationship between landowners and craftsmen of the bricks is ties of relationships that are used as 'insurance' to secure their positions when the accident-stricken. Moreover, the advent of technology has formed a new working relationship in the form of borrowing each other of clay milling machine. The advent of technology has changed the thinking and attitudes of the community. Besides that, the system of cooperation that previously shaped group of craftsmen shifts to rely on labour. This is because society considers that labour is more reliable than the groups which are voluntary. While in the process of marketing, there is a relationship between craftsmen and supplier/middleman. The middleman able to lend capital to craftsmen, but they have to sell bricks to the middleman at a bargain price. In order to negotiate prices with middlemen, craftsmen exchange information with others about market prices. This is a form of cooperation that craftsmen use as an effort to survive the price game of middlemen.
