ANALISA CACAT COR IMPELLER MENGGUNAKAN BAHAN BRONZE BC6 DI PT.EBARA INDONESIA

Impeller merupakan komponen pompa sentrifugal yang berfungsi sebagai pembangkit aliran fluida. Di dalam industri manufaktur, pembuatan impeller dilakukan dengan berbagai cara. Salah satunya dengan cara pengecoran, seperti proses pembuatan impeller di PT. Ebara Indonesia dibuat dengan menggunakan bahan salah satunya adalah BC 6. Selama ini hasil produksi di PT. Ebara Indonesia masih belum maksimal, angka kegagalan coran masih cukup tinggi. Oleh karena itu, laporan ini akan membahas bagaimana cacat coran tersebut dapat terjadi dan bagaimana solusi untuk mengatasi cacat coran tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan secara langsung dengan mengamati proses pembuatan impeller dari awal pembuatan hingga akhir proses pengecoran BC 6. Identifikasi cacat coran dilakukan dengan metode diagram fishbone, kemudian dapat diketahui penyebab dan usulan-usulan perbaikan untuk mengatasi cacat coran khususnya BC 6. Dari analisa yang telah dilakukan dengan metode tersebut, cacat coran yang paling sering terjadi adalah cacat rongga udara, cacat keropos, cacat inklusi, dan cacat patah inti. Penyebabnya dipengaruhi oleh beberapa hal, seperti temperatur terlalu tinggi, ketinggian penuangan terlalu tinggi, core tidak rata, dan yang lainnya. Perbaikan yang harus dilakukan dalam proses pembuatan impeller adalah dalam bidang proses pembuatan cetakan, perlakuan cairan logam, pembuatan core, dan proses penuangan.

Manufacture of cast iron that has Bronze Casting structure is one way to improve the mechanical properties and the bronze casting. In Ebara Indonesia company, Bronze casting is used to make pump casing and impeller that used for pumps that have high flow capacity and high pressure. The application of high pressure pump is a pump that is used for Agriculture. Copper (Cu), Timah putih (Sn) Zink (Zn) Nikel(Ni)Timbal (Pb) and ingot are elements that widely used in the foundry industry for forming Bronze casting. In principle, the process of making Bronze Casting, require basic material copper with low ferro content in order to improve the efficiency of the treatment process in rounding graphite. The process of melting Bronze casting can be done with induction furnace. The process of formation of bronze casting with open ladles system. In this paper are presented results of research on the process of the formation of Bronze Casting with a system open ladle. Bronze Casting was chosen as the material forming spherical graphite is placed in the bottom of the ladle and covered by the inoculant (Ba Si) before molten bronze is poured into the ladle, after pouring molten cast bronze to the ladel and rounding reaction graphite finish, inoculant is added to the molten Bronze Casting. Research results obtained show with the addition in the molten bronze casting, micro structure of materials changes from bronze casting that has flake graphite become bronze casting that has strength but hardness decreased due to the material becomes bronze treatment processes.
