Peran Integritas dan Moral Disengagement terhadap Ketidakjujuran Akademik pada Mahasiswa di Indonesia

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran integritas dan moral disengagement terhadap ketidakjujuran akademik pada mahasiswa di Indonesia. Hipotesis penelitian ini adalah integritas berkontribusi negatif sedangkan moral disengagement berkontribusi positif terhadap ketidakjujuran akademik. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Skala Ketidakjujuran Akademik, Skala Integritas, dan Skala Moral Disengagement. Partisipan penelitian sejumlah 500 mahasiswa aktif (159 laki-laki, 341 perempuan; 443 dari Jawa, 57 dari luar Jawa) jenjang diploma (N= 52) dan sarjana (N= 448) pada perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. Analisis regresi berganda menunjukkan bahwa integritas dan moral disengagement secara bersama-sama dapat memprediksi ketidakjujuran akademik (R2= 0,214 ; F= 67,77; t= 6,22; p < 0,01). Integritas berperan sebesar 4,54% (b = -1,77; t = -3,59; p < 0,05) sedangkan moral disengagement berperan sebesar 16,90% (b = 2,53; t = 8,97; p < 0,05) terhadap ketidakjujuran akademik. Ini menunjukkan tingginya ketidakjujuran akademik dapat diprediksi dari rendahnya integritas dan tingginya moral disengagement. Analisis tambahan menemukan adanya perbedaan ketidakjujuran akademik pada mahasiswa laki-laki dan perempuan juga pada mahasiswa dari Jawa dan luar Jawa.

This research aimed to examine the role of integrity and moral disengagement in academic dishonesty among college students in Indonesia. It was hypothesized that integrity would negatively contribute to the tendency toward academic dishonesty among college students, while moral disengagement would positively contribute to academic dishonesty. The Academic Dishonesty Scale, Integrity Scale, and Moral Disengagement Scale were used to measure students past behavior on academic dishonesty, integrity, and moral disengagement, respectively. Participants were 500 active college students in Indonesia (159 male, 341 female; 443 from Java, 57 from other Island; 52 diploma students, 448 undergraduate students). Multiple regression analysis showed that both integrity and moral disengagement significantly predicted academic dishonesty (R2= 0,214 ; F= 67,77; t= 6,22; p < 0,01). As expected, integrity negatively contributed to academic dishonesty (b = -1,77; t = -3,59; p < 0,05) while moral disengagement contributed positively to academic dishonesty (b = 2,53; t = 8,97; p < 0,05). It can be stated that higher academic dishonesty could be attributed to lower integrity and higher moral disengagement. Additional analysis found that levels of academic dishonesty differed among male and female college students, also among students from Java and other islands.
