PERAN KARAKTERISTIK PERSONAL DAN KARAKTERISTIK HUBUNGAN INTERPERSONAL DENGAN KEPERCAYAAN PADA TEMAN

This study is aimed to examine the role of two basis of trust—characteristics of personal qualities and characteristcs of relation between parties—in shaping one’s trust to his/her close friends. A total of 186 undergraduate students (male = 22%; female = 78%) aged between 15 to 21 year old (M = 17,9; SD = 0,7) were asked to complete scale-based survey questions consists on a single-measure for trust to friends, the characteristics of personal quality scale, and the characteristics of relation scale. The data were analyzed through ordinal logistic regression procedure. The result showed that combination of characteristics of personal quality and characteristics of relation in regresion model contributes significantly to the model (χ 2 = 21,92; p < 0,01). Partially, characteristics of relation influences trust to close friend possitively (Wald’s χ 2 = 11,115; p < 0,01) while characteristicsof personal quality has no significant influence (Wald’s χ 2 = 1,595; p > 0,05). Among relational components, closeness held major role in determining trust to close friends (OR = 2,78; 95% CI, 1,21 to 4,76).
