This study aims to determine the effect of social density on problem-solving ability in a laboratory setting. This study is an experimental research design with multiple independent groups. Experiments in this study involves three groups consisting of three experimental groups. The number of subjects in the study were 57 people, 48 of them are experimental subjects while 9 others are the placebo subjects. The entire subject are undergraduate student of Faculty of Psychology at Gadjah Mada University, consisting of 25 women and 23 men. One line analysis of variance results of problem-solving test scores shows the F score of 0.77 with a significance level of p = 0.469 (p> 0.05). This showed that there was no difference in problem-solving ability in terms of the level of social density. This results indicates that social density which given to each group could not resulting crowding stress which effects on problem solving performance.
