Boarding school these days become one of alternative choise for parents to educate their children. Life in dormitory will affect different adaptive coping capability to each student. This capability influence the level of competence which is become self-esteem’s indicator of boarding school student. This research had purpose to know empirically correlation between adaptive coping capability and self-esteem of boarding school’s student as an adolescent. Proposed hypothesis in this research was that a positive correlation between adaptive coping capability and self-esteem of boarding school’s student. The higher student’s adaptive coping capability was the higher student’s self-esteem, and in other way, the lower student’s adaptive coping capability was the lower student’s self-esteem. Sample of this research are 90 students of X, XI, and XII grade in SMA Negeri 10 “Melati” Samarinda. Data collection is done by spreading adaptive coping capability scale and self-esteem scale.
