KEPEMIMPINAN AMMA TOA DAN KEPATUHAN MASYARAKAT KAJANG TERHADAP AMMATOA

A unique phenomenon in the midst of roaring din of the era of globalization and modernization now, a small community of traditional "Kajang" still retain their original characteristics. Their society is still highly idolized figure, and obedient to their leaders "Amma Toa", and holds "Pasang" which they regard as divine messages. That unique phenomenon generate researchers knowledge and desire to look beyond society obedience to Amma Toa leadership in psychological terms. This study uses qualitative methods with an ethnographic approach. This method is intended to examine the culture and prevailing traditions and seek to understand a view from the perspective of indigenous culture or supporting themselves. This meant that the researchers obtain a description of the response of the issues in more depth. Data is expressed in a state as it is without modified in the form of symbols or numbers. As proposed by Stainback (in Sugiyono, 2006) that qualitative research methods was conducted intensively, participating researchers in the field, noting carefully what happened, selective analysis of the kinds of documents found in the field and making research reports detail. This study uses in-depth interviews to collect data from 4 respondents. The collection of respondents performed using the technique of “snow-ball” and the selection of respondents conducted by using theoretical sampling. The results showed that Kajang people obey their leaders "Amma Toa" because of the drivers of these behaviors, in this case can generally be grouped into two factors namely the internal factors and external factors. Internal factors are influences that arise from within the subject include perceptions and beliefs, as well as the expected return, while external factors are the influences from outside the subject, which includes neighborhood, members of surrounding communities, and traditional values. Obedience to Amma Toa have an impact on people's lives better awning impact psychologically as well as physically.
