PERBEDAAN PROFIL KEPRIBADIAN MAHASISWA SUKU ACEH DAN JAWA

2011 | Skripsi |This study was aimed to understand the difference of personality profiles between two ethnic groups in Indonesia, Acehnese and Javanese, based on the Big Five personality factors. The main method used was t-test with 2-tailed (p≤0.05), comparing each personality factors between two subject groups, Acehnese college students (N=121) and Javanese college students (N=121). The instrument used was The Big Five Inventory (BFI) which has been translated in Indonesian. The result of data analysis showed significant differences on Agreeableness factor (p=0.000) and Conscientiousness factor (p=0.004), the Acehnese students have proven more Agreeableness and Conscientiousness than Javanese students. There was no significant difference on Extraversion factor (p=0.342), Neuroticism factor (p=0.123), and Openness to Experience factor (p=0.250). The conclusion of this research was not all of the Big Five personality factors were different between Acehnese and Javanese students, because only two of the five factors in Big Five personality factors were significantly different. The results were discussed in tems of personality profile of each factors and also considering the role of culture-specific factors of each ethnic group that influence the personality of its members. Implications from this research were given for individual and community development.
