2011 | Skripsi |Former research about rapid assessment method of long-term psychological impact has been done on survivors of 2006’s earthquake disaster in Yogyakarta. The result showed that effective contribution of the rapid assessments variables toward survivors’ long-term psychological impact was ranged from 40% to 62%. This study aims to develop one of rapid assessment instrument namely Checklist of Loss Experiences on Merapi volcano eruption survivor in 2010. Losing something valuable is always distressing, much more so when it concerns highly valuable things. Therefore, depressive syndrome is one of psychological impact that is assumed to have correlation with loss experience. The research was conducted to survivors of 2010’s Merapi volcano eruption in Sleman. Participants were 66 survivors from 3 subdistricts; Cangkringan, Turi, and Pakem, which were recruited through quota sampling. Participants’ age was 21 years old and above, with equal gender proportion. Instrument used for this study was Checklist of Loss Experience. It consisted of 23 items that were divided into four loss experience categories, i.e. physical, emotional, social, and spiritual lost Hopkins Symptom Checklist for Depression and Anxiety (HSCL-25 Part B) was also used as an additional instrument. The result showed that there was significant positive correlation between loss experience as measured in checklist and depressive syndrome on Merapi volcano eruption survivor (r= 0,511; p= 0,000). Therefore, it can be concluded that loss experience as measured in checklist had an effective contribution to depressive syndrome at the rate 26,1%. Nevertheless, further use of the Checklist of Loss Experience instrument is still needed, in order to create deeper development and examination.
