Social competency was a good capital for children in order that they could develop a wider network of social life. Such social competency was an ability to adapt with social situation by performing effective behaviors. The social competency could be affected by several factors, including cognitive factor. The factor can be a linguistic ability, strong memory, the ability of recognizing facial expression, and theory of mind ability. Purpose of this study was to examine a correlation between the ability of recognizing facial expression and theory of mind ability with social competency. Subject of the study were 50 children of 11-12 years old in SDN Bangirejo II Yogyakarta. The measuring instruments in the study were the Social Competency Scale, the ‘Capability of Recognizing Facial expression’ and Theory on Mind Ability test. Multiple regression analysis was used to analysis the data.
