PERBEDAAN KEMAMPUAN MENGEVALUASI ARGUMEN ANTARA MAHASISWA SI DAN S2

Aim of this research is to find out whether any differences in the ability to understand and evaluate arguments between 2nd semester S1 students, 6th semester S1 students and S2 students. This research is important to study because in the society and the world of work, students who rank higher education is more required having higher critical thinking ability. Data collected by the reading comprehension method. Gauge used is to give readings of Cognitive Psychology called Short Term Memory and reading about Positive reinforcement with 105 subjects consisting of 35 students from 2nd semester of S1, 35 students from 6th Semester of S1 and students of Psychology UGM. Data analyzed by 1 point of variance analysis or ANOVA. The result shows F calculated> F table (94.263> 3.085) then there is a difference between the ability to evaluate arguments between 2nd semester S1 students, 6th semesters S1 students and S2 students. In output descriptive and multiple comparisons, looks mean (average) 16.03 for 2nd semesters S1 students, 20.14 for 6th semesters S1 students and 25.40 for S2 students. Seen that S2 students have higher average ability to understand and evaluate arguments than the other groups. Keywords: ability differences, understanding, evaluating, argument
