Primary school is a new world for children and it requires them to be more serious than before when they are still at kindergartens or playgroups. Numerous factors have affected school learning achievement; one of them has to do with school readiness. Children should be ready when they are going to attend schooling with various cognitive skiils, physical health, and socio-emotional competences appropriate with their developmental stages to obtain appropriate education. The present research aims to empirically examine the role of intelligence, emotional regulation, and social competences in predicting school readiness. In addition, it is to identify the difference in school readiness, emotional regulation, and social competence viewed from the gender and age s of children. Subjects involved 239 students of Kindergarten Class B or those were going to primary school in Banjarmasin Municipality, South Kalimantan. Measurement instrument used in the research consisted Coloured Progressive Matrics (CPM), Nijmeege Schoolbekwaamhelds Test (NST), emotional regulation observation guides, and social competence observation guides. Data analysis techniques adopted to test hypothesis were Regression Analysis with 3 Predictor or Multiple Regression Analysis (for hypothesis 1) and Anava Multivariate (for hypothesis 2 & 3). Results showed that (1) intelligence, emotional regulation, and social competence were capable to predict school readiness (Freg = 11,669 and p = 0,001; p0,05 and F social competence = 1,870 and p = 0,129; p>0,05); (3) significant difference in school readiness between male and female students (F = 4,121 dan p = 0.044; p0,05). Key words: School readiness, intelligence, emotional regulation, social competence, gender, age.
