PERAN EMPATI TERHADAP KETRAMPILAN SOSIAL DAN AGRESIVITAS PADA ANAK SEKOLAH DASAR

The purpose of this research was to examine the role of empathy on social skills and aggressive behavior of elementaray school children. Higher empathy was assumed increase child’s social skill and decrease aggressive behavior. The subject of the research were fourth and fifth grade elementary student of SD Kanisius Demangan Baru I Yogyakarta. There are 152 students who were involved in the research, 75 girls and 77 boys. The instruments used in this study are social skill scale, aggressive behavior scale, and empathy scale. Data were analyzed using Stuructural Equation Model (SEM) Amos version 16,0. This research revealed that empathy has a positive role on children’s social skills with estimation 0,392 and CR = 4,279 (p = 0,000) it means that higher empathy results higher social skills. Empathy has significant role on aggressive behavior with estimation -0,711 and CR = -4,038 (p = 0,000) it means higher empathy results lower aggressive behavior.
