PERAN PERSEPSI SUAMI ATAS DUKUNGAN DARI ISTRI TERHADAP KETERLIBATAN SUAMI DALAM PENGASUHAN ANAK US

This research aimed to examine the role of husband’s perception of wife’s support to paternal involvement with early-childhood children , through paternal self efficacy as m ediator. The hypotesis proposed was the role of husband’s perception of wife’s support to paternal involvement with early-childhood children was mediated by paternal self efficacy. This research consist of 206 fathers who have early childhood children (3-6 years old) and living in similar houses with their children dan wifes. Every subject was given three scale : Paternal Involvement with Early childhood Scale, Paternal Self Efficacy Scale, and Husband’s Perception of Wife’s Support Scale. The data was analyzed using path analysis with regression analysis. The result of hypothesis testing showed that hypotesis was accepted, which was indicated by by the indirect effect coefficient was 0,454 more than direct effect coefficient was 0,327. Based on this data, the conclusion was paternal self -efficacy could be good mediator to explain the role of wife support to paternal involvement with early childhood children . This research proved that husband’s positive perception to wife support can enhanced paternal self efficacy and then paternal involvement. Effective contribution (R2 ) of indirect path was more than direct path. Effective contribution of Husband’s Perception of Wife’s Support to Paternal Self Efficacy was 20,7% and effective contribution of Paternal Self Efficacy to Paternal Involvement was 21,3%. Effective contribution of Husband’s Perception of Wife’s Support to Paternal Involvement was 9,8%.
