RESILIENSI PEREMPUAN NIAS PASCA TSUNAMI DAN GEMPA BUMI

This study focuses on resilience among the Indonesian women of Nias in dealing with earthquake and tsunami disasters. The purpose of this study is to raise awareness among the women of Nias upon the “resilience” in women's lives. We conducted an action research. Data is collected using focus group discussion (FGD) with 20 subjects (n= 20) along with survey methods using questionnaires (n-50). This action research uses interactional group discussion (IGD) as its intervention methods with 8 subjects (n= 8). The survey results, using 50 subjects (n= 50) demonstrate that the women of Nias have sufficient levels of resilience as much as 81%. This implies that the women of Nias in the Sirombu village are capable of calming themselves down and regulating their feelings emerge due to traumatic experiences by sharing their feelings and problems in spiritual and social ways, possess the capabilities to determine one’s own fate and to not be carried away in the midst of helplessness, as well as the capability to identify future opportunities. Result : addition resilience raising awareness’s much 20%, after and post Intercational Group Discussion intervention. Key words: Resilience, Action Research, Earthquake and Tsunami
