CARA MENGAKOMODASI BERAGAM GAYA BELAJAR SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR PADA PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA: STUDI KASU

2008 | Tesis |This study aims at exploring how to accommodate elementary student’s learning styles in mathematics learning. Qualitative method with exploratory case study is used. Datas are obtained by semi-structure interview to 6 students from public elementary school, 5 students from private school, 7 parents, 1 handmaster, 2 mathematics teachers and 1 handmaster who is also a mathematics teacher, the other datas are also obtained by direct observations, photo documentations, and the student’s reports. The result shows that there are 6 factors that influence parent’s ways to accommodate children’s learning style in mathematics learning, they are parent’s experience in childhood, free time for the child, parent’s job, social economic status, number of family member, and knowledge about child education. This factors build parent’s ways to accommodate children’s learning style in mathematics learning, they are by using conventional approaches, inviting tutor, providing rewards, giving freedom and resposibilities, and introducing parent’s business. Meanwhile the teachers’ ways to accommodate students’ learning styles in mathematics learning are influenced by 3 factors, they are recognizing a mathematics as an unique subject, knowing about the uniqueness of students, and having educational paradigm. The ways to do so are by building a nice class, becoming open to new questions, using many teaching methods, optimalizing learning media, giving an effective coach, and orientating in learning procces.
