HAMBATAN AFEKTIF DALAM PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA PADA PENUTUR ASING
Yulius Drani Danu Wibowo,
2008 | Tesis |This qualitative study explores the types of barriers that hinder or prevent adult learners between the ages of 28 and 65 from successfully learning bahasa Indonesia as a second language. Six respondents with proficiency levels ranging from beginning to advanced, underwent interviews with the researcher using open-ended questions and discussions to determine the affective aspects of teaching and learning bahasa Indonesia as a second language that led to them experiencing problems. The results challenge the general perception that age and slower learning abilities are dominant aspects in reducing an individual’s capacity to acquire bahasa Indonesia as a second language. In this study self-efficacy, defined as the root of motivation, anxiety and self confidence, was indirectly influential in adults’ attempts to acquire bahasa Indonesia as a second language. The students who were not motivated, or who showed anxiety and lacked self confidence did not acquire a level of proficiency. External aspects of the respondents’ environment, teachers, friends and native speakers also contributed to the learners’ acquisition, or lack, of proficiency. Keywords: motivation, anxiety and self efficacy
