This study is aimed to see the effect of children maltreatment experience towards the individual self concept and coping behavior. The questions that being questioned in the study are what individual self concept that is formed is and what coping behavior that is developed by the individual who experienced children maltreatment is. The subjects of the study are three victims of children maltreatment. The quantity questionnaire about maltreatment is given to the subjects to get the information about the form and the intensity of maltreatment experience. This study explored the individual self concept and coping behavior of each subject after the maltreatment experience. Data of the study is collected through the interview and observation. The interview is conducted by using the interview guidelines that developed based on the questions of the study. The interview is also being conducted towards the secondary subject data that are the people that have close relationship with the subject. From the result of the study that is analyzed by using the content analysis method for the qualitative approach, we can find out that one of the subjects has a positive self concept, while the other two have a negative self concept. The coping behavior that, developed by the subjects when experienced and remember about the children maltreatment in general is emotional focused coping with impunitive and defensive strategy. Based on the result above, the suggestions that are given to the victims of children maltreatment are to widen the relationship with others, looking for a friend to share his or her problem and by having positive activity. It is suggested that for the people that have close relationship with the victims to broaden the knowledge about the effects that appear on children so they know the right technique to recover the physical and mental condition of the victims. The researcher hopes that the next researcher of the study could broaden the point of view of the study from the ethnography as well as the biopsychosocial.
