Fast growth in technology field cause state SMU and SMK teachers have to work harder with high motivation, in order to make their students get high intellectual skill and appropriate attitude to face it. This research tried to find which style of leadership that could increase intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Research provided at Kota Waringin Barat. It involved 88 teachers from that area. It applied two scales, namely work motivation scale and multifactor leadership questioner. Analysis by regression. The result were: (1) there was positive correlation between role of perception about transactional leadership toward intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, (2) there was positive correlation between role of perception about transformational leadership toward intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, (3) perception about transactional leadership had higher role to increase extrinsic than intrinsic motivation, (4) perception about transactional leadership had higher role to increase intrinsic motivation than transformational leadership style and (5) perception about transformational leadership had higher role to increase intrinsic motivation than transactional leadership style. Both of leadership styles, could increase both of motivations (intrinsic and extrinsic). Transactional leadership could increase extrinsic motivation higher than transformational leadership style. Transformational leadership could increase extrinsic motivation higher than transactional leadership style.
